STORY OF LOTUS SILK

I, as a lotus, am proud to be one of the beautiful cultural symbols in Vietnamese life, because this is a flower symbolizing pure, noble and pure beauty. Vietnamese people have taken advantage of most of my parts, making useful products in many areas for life, but my stem can only be thrown away, or dried for firewood. I feel very disappointed about myself.

Like luck, Ms Tram Nguyen appeared and changed my life. She is a daughter of Ha Tay (now Hanoi) which is famous for silkworm farming and silk weaving. And she has found a new method of weaving silk using my stem. This is the hardest part of the silk weaving process.

To get the lotus silk, the artisan must use a small knife, gently cut around the my stem, because if it is too deep, it will break the silk inside. Then, gently twist and pull the silk, making the lotus thread compact. Therefore, in order to have soft lotus silk threads which are woven into delicate, soft and luxurious towels, it requires artisans to be very delicate, skillful and meticulous for many days.

Each of my stem is put into a tank to wash the mud and remove all its spines to facilitate the spinning process. An average laborer a day can cut and spin from 300 petioles to a silk thread about 300m long. Depending on the thickness, a towel woven with lotus silk takes at least 1,500 to 4,000 petioles or more.

The material of the towel is made from lotus silk which is warm, airy and light and the soft silk fibers also have a slight scent of lotus, which is why lotus silk is known as a jewel in the world of silk.

Thanks to the diligence and meticulousness of Ms Tram, my life feels like a breath of fresh air and I feel I have been much more useful than being thrown away. I hope that in the not too distant future, Vietnamese lotus silk will be marked in the world and also be the inspiration and love for future generations about the quintessence of Vietnamese culture.

Our founder Ms. Tram Nguyen - is a daughter of Ha Tay (now Hanoi) which is famous for silkworm farming and silk weaving. Her family has been incubating silk for many generations. However, over the years, under the impact of the market storm, the weaving profession is increasingly lost.

But this woman is still deeply attached to the traditional profession of her ancestors. The persistent thought about this field made her always think and worry to find new directions, create new ways to keep her job. From those thoughts and concerns, she found a new method of weaving silk using lotus silk - a flower very familiar to Vietnamese people.

The above idea was obtained by returning to D**g Thap once to play. She went through a lotus growing area and saw fragrant lotus flowers, rising out of the mire. From there, the idea of ​​a fashion accessory made from lotus, faintly fragrant and skin-friendly was born.

“Sen thanh tao, cao quý, gần bùn mà chẳng hôi tanh mùi bùn. Lụa tinh khôi, mềm mại, bay bổng, tựa như mây của trời.” The mix of the national flower with one of the oldest craft quintessence in Vietnam creates the value of purity and durability.
