Tết Trung Thu

Tết Trung Thu, the Mid-autumn Festival, is also known in Vietnam as the “Full Moon Festival” or the “Children’s Festival”.
The Mid-Autumn festival dates back to the Rice Civilization of the Red River delta, over 4,000 years ago. It is held on the 15th day on the 8th lunar month (on Friday 13th, 2019 in solar calendar) in the middle of autumn and is celebrated for a whole day.
While the event takes place in the middle of the eighth lunar month, preparations begin far in advance. On this day, the children are provided with many funky lanterns - star lanterns, flower lanterns and diverse funny masks such as clown mask, lion mask, prince or princess mask for parades in the dark under the full moon.
The Old Quarter, as it presented Hanoi's old soul, is thrilly decorated with lanterns and various traditional games around the walking street such as bag jumping, tug of war, mandarine square capturing. etc.
