English is in the comment)ユリアボタン(尿素樹脂)は､多くのプラスチックが石油を原料としているのに対し､このユリア樹脂(尿素樹脂)は安価に安定供給される尿素が原料となっている点が大きな特徴です。

水牛の角や大理石のような自然な風合いを再現するために開発された経緯があり、プラスチックでありながら高級感のある雰囲気を持ちます。
原料段階で着色するため、非常に鮮明で深みのある色調を実現できます。黒色は他の素材よりも深い黒味を持つため、フォーマルウェアにも使用されます。

※Daiya Buttonでは、ユリアボタンの大サイズボタンの在庫も行っているため、サンプル段階から量産まで現物を吟味しながら企画を進めていただけます。
※またポリエステルボタンは、リング/ハトメ加工も行っていますので、ゴールド、シルバー、ブラックニッケルなど少量生産の企画ものやスポット生産にも対応可能です。

一般的な尿素ボタンは、**尿素（Urea）とホルムアルデヒド（Formaldehyde）を反応させて作られる尿素・ホルムアルデヒド樹脂（Urea-Formaldehyde resin、UF樹脂）**が基本的な素材となります。

欧州・トルコ・中国・日本・韓国・ベトナムなど生産国によって異なりますが、強度や環境性能を高めるために、バイオマス材料（植物由来の有機物など）やジャガイモスターチ、木質粒子などが充填剤として添加される場合もあります。

これらの原料を混合し、ボタンの形状をした金型に投入し、高温高圧下で圧縮成形することで、硬化して耐久性のある尿素ボタンが製造されます。
＊形状としては、両面のネコ目、バックル、模様が施されたものなどは、ポリエステルボタンに対してコストメリットがでやすいことがあります。

また、レーザー加工機でロゴ入れをした場合は、レーザー部分が白く反応するためロゴ部分を目立たせることが可能です。一方、ポリエステルボタンは切削加工を行うため、ユリアボタンを成形するための金型費用が不要となります。
この樹脂は熱硬化性であるため、一度成形されると再溶解することはありません。

尿素ボタンとよく似た性質のボタンに、メラミンボタン(メラミン樹脂)があります。メラミン樹脂は1940年代初頭にアメリカ海軍向けに開発され、最初は軽量で耐久性のある食器として導入されました。(今日でもベトナムでは、陶器製食器の代替品としてタイブランドのメラミン食器がいたるところで確認できます。)

食器としての成功後、1942年に衣料用のメラミンボタンが導入され、軍服に広く採用されました。

メラミンボタンは、ユリアボタンよりも耐熱性が高く、米国などでは軍服やプロ仕様の作業服など、特に高い耐久性が求められる衣類に使用される傾向があります。
アメリカンビンテージや、当時を再現したアイテムのリメイクなどにこだわりのパーツとしてお使いいただけます。金属パーツも同じくリメイク製法でお作りしていますので、是非お問い合わせください。
