Good news! Blue Ridge Parkway reopens most of the section between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mtn as the rebuilding of the road continues. Here's the latest closure / detour map. Now, just a short section between US 221/Grandfather and Linn Cove Viaduct parking is closed for the long-planned rebuild. The Viaduct itself is open, but you'll need to drive down from the north. The entire section will reopen for the busy October leaf season!

I've decided I'm not raising Yarnival - Music & Alternative Arts Festival ticket prices until tomorrow, I thought I'd add one more day to see if anyone else cares about saving a little money. But enough about that let's talk about this past week.

We had the best damn time. From WV, to our favorite new listening room in PA, to NJ with all our dear Hobo family, and to coastal Carolina with our favorite restauranteurs, Red & Ashley. We did not take one second for granted.

Nick Baglio filled in for Bobby on drums and slayed it as usual, the past 2 nights his old friend and bandmate, Jeanne Jolly sat in and sang a bunch of tunes with us. Please go find her anywhere you find music and turn it up. Of course Dan Hood on guitar, Russell Clarke on sax and as always Ricky B on bass. Making music and sharing time with all these folks is one of the greatest gifts this life has provided me.

This here is one of our fans, who just so happened to be a fan of a great band out of Raleigh who'll be playing Yarnival for the first time this year, Fancy Gap. We saw his hat and got just about as excited as that time we almost won the church raffle. Nick is a full time member, it'll be so great to have all those boys at Yarnival this year! BUY THEM TICKETS ASAP. Price increase tomorrow along with daily lineup announcement.

For years, anyone flying with a larger dog had to accept a harsh reality. Their pet was going in the aircraft's cargo hold. Dark, loud, and completely separated from their owner for hours at a time.

Italy has just fundamentally changed travel for pet owners. New policies mean dogs will no longer be banished to the luggage compartment. They are now allowed directly in the cabin. The shift recognizes what most people already know: the cargo hold is no place for a family member, and the safest place for them is right next to you.
