TỔNG KẾT NGÀNH DỆT MAY NĂM 2023
Kim ngạch xuất khẩu dệt may năm 2023 ước đạt 40,3 tỷ USD, giảm 9,2% so với năm 2022. Xuất khẩu hàng may mặc ước giảm 3,1 tỷ USD, tương đương 8,9%, xuất khẩu vải ước giảm 186 triệu USD, tương đương 6,9%, xuất khẩu sơ sợi ước giảm 485 triệu USD tương đương 10,3%, xuất khẩu nguyên phụ liệu ước giảm 218 triệu USD, tương đương 16%.
[EN] SUMMARY OF THE TEXTILE AND GARMENT INDUSTRY IN 2023
Despite facing numerous challenges in 2023 with exports being recorded to be less than 2022, the textile and garment industry are expected to achieve a record breakthrough in the number of export markets.
The increasing global inventory has posed great threat to the entire industry. The textile and garment export turnover in 2023 is estimated at $40.3 billion, a 9.2% decrease compared to 2022. This decline includes a $3.1 billion reduction in garment exports (8.9%), a $186 million decrease in fabric exports (6.9%), a $485 million drop in yarns exports (10.3%), and a $218 million decrease in textile accessories exports (16%).
The export product structure undergoes notable changes in 2023, with key items like knitwear, shorts, and children's clothing experiencing significant declines. Conversely, products such as protective workwear, suits, medical clothing, and jeans are seeing rapid growth.
In this context, the largest market for the Vietnamese textile and garment industry remains the United States. In the first nine months, textile and apparel exports to the U.S. market exceeded 11 billion USD, followed by Japan with around 3 billion USD, South Korea at 2.4 billion USD, and the EU at nearly 2.9 billion USD. These are the four key markets for the textile and garment industry.
The industry's overarching goal for 2024 is to continue diversifying its export markets while pursuing sustainable development in tandem with meeting the global market's demands for greening, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and investing deeply in electrically powered boiler systems, gradually phasing out boilers fueled by fossil fuels. This includes investments in digital management, adapting to the global textile industry, implementing technology and automation in certain production lines to accommodate fast delivery, small-batch, and high-quality products. Additionally, there is a focus on developing solutions for the fashion industry's growth.
According to the Chairman of VITAS (Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association), it is crucial to swiftly adapt to the global rules of the game set by brands and proactively engage in the fashion industry. Enterprises must take the initiative, establish a closely-knit chain with fiber production and dyeing facilities, creating a strategic development plan to eventually become global brand leaders.
