She's off the needles, and I'm loving my new purply sock yarn, Freya's Echo! I made a few mods, and she's going to be a great in-between-seasons layer.

This week, I'm also chatting about socks (Socktober is almost over!) and answering a few questions sent to the podcast - we dive into swatching, making knitted fabric and shaping for the body of a cropped slipover.

This week on the podcast, I’m talking all about my sweater, Freya’s Echo. I knitted her twice: first in a bunch of light, woollen-spun colours, then in hand-dyed, slightly variegated merino/nylon sock yarn. She looks great in both.

Freya’s Echo is full of techniques worth playing with: Latvian braids (with tutorials to see you through), lace and colourwork. She’s good fun from cast-on to bind-off, and easy to adapt if you’d like a different neck, sleeve, or body shape.

The pattern-keeper is a clever and oh-so-simple system for following patterns – it’s especially good for charts, and I’ve been using one myself for the last couple of months.
