One of the most exhausting experiences is continuing to show up for a relationship that always seems one conversation away from finally feeling secure.

You explain. You clarify. You give grace. You try again. And every time you think you’ve reached an understanding, the expectations change, the goalposts move, or the effort somehow becomes yours to carry all over again.

The relief doesn’t come from finally getting them to meet you where you are.

It comes from realizing that your energy was never meant to be spent convincing someone to value what you were already offering.

And once you stop chasing the finish line, you finally have the energy to run your own race.
