Octohoodie, AquaRobe or OctoSnug? Here’s the difference.

The Octohoodie is our quick-dry performance microfibre swim poncho. Pull it on after swimming and you can dry off and get changed underneath it.

The AquaRobe is longer and wrap-around, with a belt and generous coverage, and made with the same performance fabric as the original Octohoodie.

And the OctoSnug is the snug one — oversized coral fleece with a Sherpa-lined hood.

Yesterday, Cape Town made summer promises.
Today, she has withdrawn them.
The blue sky has disappeared, the temperature has dropped and everyone who packed a jacket is feeling unbearably smug.
This is Cape Town. We know the arrangement.
We take the beautiful days when they come. We get into the water. We stay longer than planned. And we keep something warm nearby because the city is allowed to change her mind without notice.
Yesterday was why we went.

People like us don’t save the sea for summer.
Especially not when Cape Town gives us a Sunday like this: winter sunshine, clear blue water and the Twelve Apostles looking almost too good to be real.

A Cape Town Sunday can start with sunshine, turn into a south-easter and end with everyone standing beside the car in wet costumes asking who packed the snacks.
We know this because these are our people.

The swimmers.
The surfers.
The nippers.
The parents carrying six bags and someone else’s goggles.
The children who said the water was “not even cold” while their teeth were chattering.

Octohoodie was made for exactly this glorious nonsense.

Your Octohoodie is doing more work than a normal towel. Here's how to keep it that way.

Skip the fabric softener. It coats the fibres and kills the quick-dry, quick-absorb thing that makes microfibre actually work. Feels nice in the wash, ruins the whole point of the hoodie.

Wash cool, not hot. Hot water breaks down the microfibre over time and it stops pulling water the way it should.

Let it dry properly before you fold it away damp in a bag. Microfibre dries fast in open air, but sealed up wet is how you get that musty smell nobody wants.

That's it. No fancy care, just skip the two things that quietly wreck it.
