Merewent woman turns passion for technology into thriving PC repair business!!

Growing up in Clausia Road in Merewent - an area affectionately known as Noddy Town - NATASHA "Tasha" MOONSAMY always enjoyed learning new things.

Today, the Merewent resident is putting that passion to work after completing two nationally-recognised ICT qualifications through Engen's Global Citizen Development Programme (EGCDP) and launching her own computer repair business.

The aspiring entrepreneur completed the IT Technical Support (NQF Level 4) and IT Systems Development (NQF Level 5) qualifications, graduating in March this year.

Inspired by the practical skills she gained during the programme, Natasha has since established TASHA'S PC REPAIRS, offering affordable computer repair and support services to the local community.

Her business provides PC hardware repairs, upgrades and component replacements - including battery replacements - as well as computer clean-ups, storage upgrades, file transfers to external drives and professional file organisation.

Growing a business is one thing. Building one that lasts is another.

Every business owner wants growth.
It means more clients, better turnover, a larger team, new premises and bigger opportunities; but growth can be deceptive.

A business can look successful from the outside, while the owner is working longer hours, cash flow is under pressure and the team is struggling to keep up.
Sales may be increasing, yet profit remains thin.
New clients may be coming in, but service levels are starting to fall.

That is usually the point where growth stops feeling like progress and starts feeling like pressure.

From chartered accountant to fuel retail entrepreneur: targeting 10 bp service stations!!

The relaunch of bp Thorntree in Soshanguve marks another milestone in entrepreneur CINDY RAMOKOTO's growing presence in South Africa's fuel retail industry, where women remain under-represented in ownership.

The service station has recently undergone upgrades, including a refurbished forecourt and a modernised Pick n Pay Express, aimed at improving the customer experience and supporting future business growth.

Ms Ramokoto now owns two bp service stations - bp Thorntree in Gauteng and bp Ridge Oasis in KwaZulu-Natal - employing approximately 200 people across her operations.
___________

Before entering the fuel retail industry, Cindy built a successful corporate career as a chartered accountant and became a partner at one of South Africa's "Big Five" firms.

She later left the corporate sector to join her late brother's fuel retail business, before purchasing her own service station.

She said having personal savings enabled her to raise the deposit needed to invest in the business, an opportunity she believes is still beyond the reach of many South African women.

Ms Ramokoto welcomed efforts to increase female ownership in the fuel retail sector, but said greater access to finance remains essential to help more women enter the industry.
