Swastika started her voguish, distinctive boutique for a number of reasons. In fact, even if she’d been born there, there’s no way she could love it more, and what communicates the charm and mystical quality of India better than the vibrant clothing of its inhabitants? Living outside of India, and loving to stand out in a crowd with her quirky, yet elegant sense
of style, Swasti came up with the idea of transporting the clothing of India right to the very doorsteps of her friends and neighbours in KwaZulu-Natal, giving them the same opportunity to avoid blending in by dazzling in a unique ethnic ensemble. Swastika also believes that women should dress in a style that is right for them specifically; their size, their shape, their colour. There are few better feelings than those of seeing a woman looking in the mirror and truly appreciating what they see. If there is one way that Swasti would like to be remembered, it would be for being stylishly elegant, a goal which shapes the kinds of clothes she chooses to feature in her Everything Ethnic by House of S. Style is a way to say who you are without saying a word. Swasti’s day job is one which operates in a totally different world to fashion, but it also entails working with people, which is one of her passions. She is different, but never in a weird way; is the adage that less is more one which guides her sense of style as well as her attitude. She makes frequent trips to the enigmatic land of India, always searching for quirky but trendy designs in an effort to keep you abreast of the latest fashions. The other face of The House of S is Sanyukta, her quirky a very willing and skilled minion who is generally very obliging when it comes to acting as a guinea pig for the assessing of styles and trying-out of ideas. She is the future face of The House of S and takes this responsibility very seriously. It’s definitely true that many hands make light work.
