From Big Feelings to Calm: How Our Response Shapes a Child’s Behaviour.
🧠 💛 🤗 🫶 ✨ 🧸

When children are struggling with behaviour, our response can either add fuel to the fire — or help their nervous system find its way back to calm.

Ignoring feelings, punishing or isolating a child when they are already overwhelmed can increase distress, making regulation even harder.

Validation and empathy don’t mean giving in or removing boundaries.

They mean helping a child feel understood and safe enough to regulate — so that, over time, they can develop the capacity to manage those big feelings themselves.

The goal isn’t to accept difficult behaviour.

It’s to change what happens next.

The Original SCREEN-FREE survival guide, packed with fun ideas to keep children entertained, creative, and happily 🎨🧩🌈 engaged without digital devices. 📵✨

How parents entertained children before tablets, iPads or phones -

1. “Go Outside.”
No charger needed. Just a bicycle and strict instructions to return before dark.

2. Cardboard Boxes
Yesterday’s delivery packaging. Today’s castle, spaceship, and luxury apartment.

3. Handed Them Pots and Wooden Spoons
The original home entertainment system. Very loud. Completely free.

Drawing on Paper
With actual crayons. No undo button. Every mistake became “modern art.”

Told Them to Count Passing Cars
Educational, peaceful, and surprisingly effective on long journeys.

Let Them Play With the Garden Hose
One hose, six children, and absolutely no concern about the water bill.

Told Them to Read a Book
The screen never froze, although the child occasionally did.

Gave Them Household Chores
Boredom disappeared immediately once cleaning was mentioned.

Making Paper Airplanes
Ten minutes of folding. Two seconds of flight. Immediate engineering review.

Simply Said, “Go Find Something to Do”
And somehow, they did.
