Derived from the viral moment from a clip of a broken hearted girl’s mispronunciation of “Johannesburg Girl” . The city girl often finds herself hurt, betrayed and even used by the very same city she claims to belong to.

But the JohannesGirlburg’s beauty comes from navigating the layered city and still showing up stitched in her experiences.
Layered and crafted from denim scraps this piece sits at the center of who you become once you’ve lived in the city long enough .
Johannesburg is a gruelling place to be in but from it comes the most creative, resilient and tenacious of people .
JohannesGirlburg is a product of the city.

I’ve made multiple baby bags in the past and I realised I hadn’t made a diaper bag for my own baby.
I wanted something stylish, custom and obviously reworked for Denim.
Here’s what I came up with .
I also wrote the instructions and measurements with the intention to digitise and the pattern for this bag. All proceeds go to Denim’s swimming lessons. Let me know if any of you would be interested in the pattern for this bag.

Farm Julia (Noun)
A mildly offensive, boaderline derogatory term used to describe a woman who is seen as rural or backward in comparison to her urban counterpart.

This piece was heavily influenced by upbringing in a small, then Afrikaans town, strict Christian background and the conversations one grew up with.
Where ones value was measured by their “purity” and closeness to the church.
This piece took about 18 hours to complete, work in on it over the course of 3 days.

Wardrobe Studies : The Winter Closet .

Nothing makes sense to me right now like dopamine dressing.
From my past style analysis, I saw a lot of my outfits had some form of pinstripe in it and the graphics from the T-shirts, but now I would really like to incorporate gingham and checkered prints as well . I would love to play around with interesting silhouettes and textures from faux fur, to customised denim pants as well ask crocheted/knitted chunky cardigans.
While this is for winter I think these pieces might carry well into the spring and some even into the summer. We’ll see.
