If you’re looking for socks that are quick to knit, DK weight is a great option!

These 7 DK weight sock patterns are worked with thicker yarn than traditional fi*****ng-weight socks, which means they knit up faster and produce warm, cozy socks that are practical for everyday wear.

Wear them indoors with slippers or outdoors with boots. They’re also a great option if you’re a beginner sock knitter and want to start with a quicker project.

Which pair would you knit first?

As I start working on autumn and winter designs, I’ve been thinking about my favourite summer design this year — the Lindiwe Top.

I love how much versatility is built into such a simple piece. It works with denim, linen trousers, tailored pieces and skirts, and can just as easily be worn on its own or layered as a vest.

It’s one of those garments that quietly earns its place in a wardrobe because there are so many ways to wear it.

And while summer may be coming to an end in the Northern Hemisphere, we’re only just beginning to feel the warmth here in Johannesburg. I’m very much looking forward to wearing my Lindiwe Tops on repeat as the temperatures rise.

There’s something particularly beautiful about a dark, rainy Johannesburg day.

I designed Mihlali and released it late last year, and I’ve loved seeing it move from an idea on my needles into a piece I can actually reach for on days like this!

Perhaps this is my favourite part of designing knitwear: creating pieces that become part of the quiet, everyday rituals of getting dressed.

The Zazi Socks were originally designed in 2023, and I’ve been wanting to knit another pair ever since. Three years later, I finally did!

This pair is knitted in Purl Soho Knitting Yarn DK in the shade North Sea, and I’m so happy with how they turned out.

Zazi features a ribbed cable pattern, a folded cuff, and a heel flap and gusset for a comfortable, cozy fit. They’re worked from the cuff down, and the cuff can be worn either folded or short.

One of my goals this year has been to revisit some of my older patterns and knit them again, and this has been such a fun and rewarding project. There’s something really special about seeing an old design with fresh eyes — and I think Zazi has held up rather beautifully.

Winter is hopefully behind us here in South Africa, but I’m sure these will be perfect for those cool, rainy summer days.

Zazi Socks are 20% off until Sunday, 6 September 2026 on Ravelry and Etsy. No coupon code needed.

One pattern, so many colour possibilities!

The Buttered Popcorn Pullover sample is knit in a speckled yarn, with the ribbing worked in a contrasting solid colour—but there are so many different combinations to explore.

Two solid colours for a classic look. A neutral paired with a bright neon. Something dark and moody. Or perhaps soft pastels for an entirely different feel.

The colour combination you choose can completely transform the look of the same design, and I would love to see the versions you come up with.

What colours would you choose for your Buttered Popcorn Pullover?

My newest cast-on…the Hlumelo Pullover!

I’m having so much fun with this one and can barely put it down. It’s worked from the top down, with horizontal stripes incorporated as you knit. Once the sweater is finished, the vertical stripes will be added using a crochet hook to create the windowpane fabric.

If you’ve seen the Hlumelo Vest, you’ll recognise the technique — swipe to the last two photos to see how the finished fabric looks. I’m particularly excited to see how it translates to a full-sleeved sweater.

The sample is being knit with African Expressions Harmony in shades 2000 and 2029.

And because it’s still a little chilly, I’m wearing my Palesa Socks too. The pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy.

There’s something so useful about a lightweight sweater.

When the weather can’t quite decide what season it is, fi*****ng- and sport-weight sweaters are the perfect middle ground — warm enough for a cool morning, light enough for a sunny afternoon, and easy to layer when temperatures change.

So I’ve rounded up 10 light sweaters you can knit — pieces that can earn their place in your wardrobe well beyond one particular season.

As the weather changes and we move into a new season, I find myself reaching for lighter layers more and more.

Fingering-weight sweaters are perfect for this time of year — light enough to wear comfortably during the warmer parts of the day, but still cosy when the temperature drops.

The Lisebo Pullover is one of my favourite pieces for transitional weather. It has a relaxed fit, a simple V-neck and bold stripes, making it an easy layer to throw on with jeans, trousers or a skirt.

The sample is knit with Merino Twist in Sable and Faded Rose.

The Lisebo Pullover pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy.

Lesedi Blouse… pattern coming in October!

I’ve just cast on the second sample, and this version will be slightly longer — designed with pants and jeans in mind. I can’t wait to share it with you!
