What the bursary includes:
🎓 A full 3-year Fashion Design tuition at NWSD, valued at R200,000
💻 A laptop, sponsored by Gert-Johan Coetzee Studios
🧵 A Bernina sewing machine, valued at R14,000
👗 Two annual internship opportunities at Gert-Johan Coetzee Studios

How to apply:

Calling all North West-based emerging fashion designers! ✨

Here’s your opportunity to take your Ready-to-Wear collection from concept to catwalk!

10 emerging designers will be selected to attend a fully funded workshop on 21 & 22 September 2026, focusing on developing, refining and presenting a Ready-to-Wear collection. Food and accommodation are included.

Following the workshop, up to 5 designers will be selected to develop a collection to showcase at the 2026 Platinum Fashion Festival on 14 November. ✨

Thando’s journey is one we’re proud to share. 🤍

After graduating from NWSD in 2023 and spending time lecturing at the school, she took the next step and started her own label, Autumn Leaves Couture.

Today, she’s building her business one client, one dress and one lesson at a time - with a special love for beautiful, intricate beading. ✨

We loved hearing about her journey, the challenges she’s faced and where she hopes to take her brand next.
