🎶 NURSERY RHYMES: MORE THAN JUST A SONG!

Did you know that nursery rhymes are an important pre-reading skill 🤗

At Baby Steps, we don't just sing nursery rhymes because they're fun (although we LOVE the fun! 😜). We use them as a natural and enjoyable way to help prepare little minds for reading and language.

🌟 Nursery rhymes help children develop:

👂 Listening skills – Children learn to listen carefully, follow along and remember words and sequences.

🗣️ Language & vocabulary – Rhymes introduce children to new words, sentence patterns and ways of expressing themselves.

🔤 Phonological awareness – This is a BIG one! Rhyming helps children notice that words can sound alike and draws their attention to the sounds within words — an important foundation for learning to read.

🧠 Memory & sequencing – Repeating familiar rhymes helps children remember words, patterns and what comes next.

👏 Rhythm & syllables – Clapping, tapping and moving along to rhymes helps children become aware of the rhythm and structure of spoken language.

💬 Confidence in communication – When children know a rhyme, they can join in, finish a line or say the words themselves. Every little “Hey Di**le Di**le!” is building confidence. 🥰

📖 And eventually… reading!

Before children learn to read words on a page, they need to develop an understanding of sounds, language, rhythm, vocabulary and patterns. Nursery rhymes provide a wonderfully playful way to build these foundations.

So when your little one asks you to sing "Twinkle Twinkle" for the 47th time today… 😅🎶

We boogie, we build,
We explore and create,
We make friendships, find confidence
And celebrate every milestone, big and great! 💕✨

Because childhood isn’t meant
To be rushed or sitting still…
It’s meant for muddy hands, big imaginations
And way too much fascination!😎

At Baby Steps, we want our little Baby Steppers to grow up knowing that their worth is not measured by what they achieve, how they look, how quickly they learn or how they compare to someone else.

You are loved because you are you.
You are special because you are you.
And there is only one beautiful you in this whole big world. 🌍✨🥰

So today, and every day, remind yourself:

🌈 I am enough.
🌈 I am loved.
🌈 I am capable.

Because “I can’t” is not an option. ❤️

I can try. I can learn. I can figure out where I went wrong, try a different way and have another go.

There is always room to learn, grow and do things a little better next time, because our mistakes are often where some of our biggest learning happens. 🥰

And at Baby Steps, we believe we are all winners when we have tried our very best. ❤️

It’s not about getting everything right the first time…
it’s about believing in yourself enough to try again 🤗😇😍🌈

⭐ OUR STARS OF THE WEEK! ⭐

Our little bosses… 😎🤣💕

The ones we have our very important board meetings with, who keep us on our toes, ask us the most unexpected questions and, every now and then, remind us that we really should just stop and smell the roses. 🌹

They may be little, but they have a way of teaching us some pretty big things.

Every week we get to celebrate a few of these little people for something special they have done 🤩being kind, trying something new, helping a friend, showing courage, listening beautifully or simply making us smile.

Because sometimes the little things really are the BIG things. ❤️
