We are sewing faux ostrich leather bags on a working ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn. The Old Mill is nestled in the mountains, it's absolutely beautiful but oh! it's cold!!

The energy was absolutely buzzing in the Youth Class at the National Quilt Festival!

Our Husqvarna VIKING Onyx 30 sewing machines were running at full speed as these talented young sewists created colourful scrappy bags and scrappy cushions with enthusiasm and imagination.

Creativity was overflowing, and Mari's *Quilt with Mari* team guided every student with incredible patience, encouragement, and care.

There is nothing more inspiring than seeing the next generation of sewists discovering the joy of creating with their own hands. Their excitement, confidence, and beautiful projects remind us that the future of sewing is in very good hands. 💙🧵✨

**It takes a village to create something truly beautiful.** 💙

A project of this scale is never the work of one person, and we are incredibly grateful to the talented people who helped bring this spectacular quilt to life.

✨ **Annette van Rensburg** from Mezomode Quilting & Sewing created the background, carefully selected the colours, and planned the overall layout.

✨ **Dorathea van Antwerpen** and **Penny Baker** stitched the blocks together, ensuring that every one of the **1,911 blocks** measured **exactly 2 inches square**.

✨ Annette also assisted with the coral layout, while Dorathea created all the artwork and appliqué.

✨ **Thereza** from Technoscene digitized the turtle embroidery design, and **Kenneth Selby** selected the thread colours and embroidered the turtle and jellyfish.

✨ Finally, the quilt was brought to life by **Annie Marais**, (0825528637), whose patience, creativity, and beautiful quilting transformed it into a true work of art.

A heartfelt thank you to every person involved. Your passion, skill, and dedication have created an absolute masterpiece.

And of course, none of this would have been possible without our amazing **Husqvarna VIKING Designer EPIC™ 3**.

Throughout this project we relied on many of its incredible features, including the Sewing Advisor™, the ¼" Piecing Foot, Laser Guideline, Projection, Exact Positioning, decorative stitches, and so much more. It truly is the ultimate machine for bringing creative visions to life.

The Sew Awareness Quilt festival has been busy and we have had many new sewists giving our Husqvarna VIKING machines a test drive.
One young fascinated future sewist kept a keen eye on the embroidery machine until the very last stitch was embroidered and went home with a beautiful bag!
