More than a blanket, this design tells the story of the Basotho nation.

At its centre stands King Moshoeshoe I, surrounded by every monarch who has led the Kingdom of Lesotho, including the current King, King Letsie III. It also honours the legacy of Queen Mofumahali Mantsébo Seeiso, the only queen to have ruled the nation.

Featuring the iconic Mokorotlo, the Basotho shield, and the official Lesotho Bicentenary (200 Years) woven label, this blanket is a tribute to a proud heritage and a united people.

Inspired by King Moshoeshoe I's philosophy that there is unity in diversity, this blanket celebrates the history, resilience, and enduring spirit of the Basotho nation.

It was an honour and privilege to attend the launch of The Blanket Speaks by Ntate Tom ‘Mojalefa’ Kritzinger.

As Aranda, we are proud to have witnessed this significant milestone and to celebrate with someone who has played an important role in our history.

The launch was more than the unveiling of a book; it was a celebration of stories, legacy and the lessons gathered along the way. We were also honoured by the presence of the King and Queens, who added to the significance of this special occasion.

Congratulations on this remarkable achievement, Ntate Tom. May your story continue to inspire and remind us of the legacy woven into every blanket.

Fascinatingly woven into the history of the Basotho nation, the Basotho blanket is a symbol of cultural pride.

Symbolising the beauty of Lesotho, the mountains, the rivers, the Qiloane mountain that has inspired the hard to miss Basotho hat, the ReNOKA blanket was designed to reflect this. The symbols are an embodiment of what Lesotho has to offer, from the natural environment to the innovative technologies that Lesotho uses to protect the natural environment, the blanket denotes this.

ReNOKA is partnering with Aranda to give all a chance to contribute towards the protection of this precious resource from the headwaters in Lesotho. By buying this blanket, you are contributing to community-led projects aligned with the integrated catchment management planning processes that give communities an opportunity to identify the challenges in their environment and find solutions collectively.

Setso | The Heart of a Nation. Some designs tell a story. Others preserve a way of life.

Inspired by the traditions, values and everyday experiences of the Basotho people, Setso is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage that continues to shape generations.

At the heart of the design stands a traditional hut, inspired by the iconic Qiloane Mountain, a lasting symbol of King Moshoeshoe I and the resilience, unity and strength of the Basotho nation. Surrounding it, maize speaks of nourishment, growth and an enduring connection to the land that has sustained communities for generations.

Traditional koto (knobkerries) reflect preparedness, protection and the wisdom passed from one generation to the next, while lerit'soana—the vessels used to carry water, milk and traditional Basotho beer (moqombothi)—celebrate the customs and daily rituals that bring families and communities together.

Framing the design are intricate litema patterns, a timeless expression of Basotho artistry that bridges the past with the present and reminds us that culture is something to be lived, shared and passed on.

More than a blanket, Setso is a visual celebration of heritage - an invitation to honour the traditions, values and stories that continue to define the Basotho people.

Created as part of the Young Basotho Designers Collection 2026, Setso celebrates a new generation of designers who are preserving Basotho heritage through thoughtful storytelling, contemporary creativity and meaningful design.
