Inspired by the majestic peacock (Pikoko), this design is a celebration of beauty, confidence and the enduring pride of the Basotho people.

Just as the peacock's magnificent plumage is a symbol of dignity and self-expression, Pikoko encourages every wearer to embrace their own identity with confidence. At the heart of the design, the iconic Mokorotlo is woven into the feathers, bringing together the elegance of nature and the rich heritage of Basotho culture.

Its colours tell a story of their own. Deep blues and emerald greens reflect peace, loyalty, growth and prosperity, while vibrant orange celebrates triumph and abundance. Black anchors the design, honouring the timeless character of the classic Basotho blanket.

More than a blanket, Pikoko is a reminder that heritage is something to wear with pride. It celebrates individuality while paying tribute to the traditions that continue to shape the Basotho nation.

Maqhubu | Riding the Waves of Life!

Some waves test us. Others shape us.

Inspired by the artist's name Wave Rhyder, Maqhubu, meaning "waves" is a powerful reminder that life's challenges are not there to stop us, but to strengthen us.

Just as the waves rise and fall without ever losing their rhythm, this design celebrates resilience, courage and the determination to keep moving forward. It reminds us that no matter what life may bring, we each have the strength to rise above it.

More than a blanket, Maqhubu is a symbol of protection and inner strength. Wrapped in its warmth, it becomes a shield—encouraging its wearer to face every challenge with confidence and hope.

Its inspiration is echoed in the beloved Sesotho hymn:

"U nka mpalamise maqhubu, nts'ike ka liatla."

A heartfelt prayer for guidance and safe passage through life's storms, it reflects the enduring belief that even in difficult times, we are never without strength or direction.

The Xhosa - Ithumbu is a striking throw inspired by the stripes of timeless Xhosa clothing and blankets.

Unique to the Xhosa people, the predominant use of black and white in their designs is steeped in tradition. Cultural rituals are symbolic through every stage of life and development for the Xhosa people, such as knowing one’s isiduko (clan).

This is considered so important that when two strangers meet for the first time, the first identity that gets shared is isiduko. This forms the origins of ubuntu (human kindness), a behaviour synonymous with this nation, as extending a helping hand to a complete stranger when in need. It is also the roots to the saying “it takes a village to raise a child”.
