Gankaku — "Crane on a Rock" — is one of Shotokan's most demanding kata, built around single-leg stances that test total balance and focus. It's a favourite kata for many karateka, and this design captures that exact moment of poise, paired with a tiger-and-sun graphic inspired by traditional Japanese linework and finished with a subtle OSSU emblem on the back neck.

This design places you inside a kendo men helmet, looking out at the world through the grill of tradition. The landscape reflects a Japanese perspective shaped by discipline, heritage and quiet observation. Temples, bridges, sakura and water form a calm inner world that every kendoka learns to recognise through training.

Originally sent into space in 1972, the NASA Pioneer Plaque was humanity’s introduction to the universe. OSSU’s Pioneer Plaque – Karate Edition reimagines that message through a martial arts lens—because discipline, respect, and a proper gi never go out of style.

This clean, diagram-inspired design blends space exploration history with karate culture, honouring both science and budo tradition. Subtle, intelligent, and quietly rebellious, it’s a shirt for those who appreciate clever design and deeper meaning.

The Earlybirds tradition began in 1965, when Sensei Stan Schmidt launched the first early-morning training classes at the SA JKA Honbu. Since then, the movement has spread worldwide, uniting many karateka who choose to train before sunrise with discipline and quiet determination. This vintage emblem design features a globe and the classic motto “We train hard while you are still sleeping”, celebrating both the heritage and global reach of these sessions.
