They say it takes a village to raise a child. I’d like to change that: it takes a village to build a small business.
After three days of sewing boxy bags on my Bernina, I called Mr Tailor this morning, and he helped me finish the bias binding inside the bags and gave everything a final quality check.
Then I popped into Du Toits Skoenwinkel, and Mr du Toit cut the leather laces for me on the spot.
Neither of them would take a cent for it.
A huge thank you to Fabric Centre for the beautiful blue corduroy that started it all — paired with Liberty fabric from my own stash, collected since my student days. To the school mom friend who ordered 11 boxy bags — I appreciate you more than you know. And to my wonderful daughter, who helped with quality control — my favourite little helper.
Where else in the world do you still find people willing to help you out, just because?
Grateful doesn’t even cover it. 🧵✨
