*"Our Youths Deserve Better. You Will Return to the Mufumbwe, Kikonge and Kasenseli Gold Mines When We Form Government" – Mundubile*

National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) President Brian Mundubile has pledged to restore opportunities for young people in the mining sector, saying his government will prioritise youth empowerment and responsible artisanal mining.

Addressing supporters during the NRPUP Mega Rally in Solwezi today , Mr Mundubile said his party could not ignore the plight of unemployed youths or the concerns raised by traditional leaders in mineral rich areas.

"We cannot ignore the desperate calls of our unemployed youths and the legitimate concerns of our traditional leaders. It is unacceptable that chiefdoms blessed with abundant mineral resources continue to be defined by poverty and underdevelopment instead of prosperity," he said.

Mr Mundubile assured the people of Solwezi and the wider North-Western Province that an NRPUP government would ensure local communities benefit from their natural resources.

"To our young people, when we form government next month, you will return to the Mufumbwe, Kikonge and Kasenseli gold mine in Mwinilunga with the full support of your government," he said.

He argued that when gold was discovered in these areas, the government should have organised artisanal mining, provided safety training, and created a legal framework that would allow local people to earn sustainable livelihoods.

Instead, he alleged, the government's response was characterised by intimidation and the use of guns, force against young people seeking economic opportunities.

Mr Mundubile pledged that under an NRPUP administration, youths engaged in lawful mining activities would be supported rather than threatened.

"We will not simply return these mining opportunities to you; we will work alongside you to ensure that mining is conducted safely, legally and profitably for the benefit of our communities," he said.

📷"I WILL KEEP SPEAKING FOR NORTH-WESTERN UNTIL I DIE" - SAMAKAYI

Former Mwinilunga lawmaker Samakayi says he will continue advocating for North-Western Province until his death, citing years of unfulfilled government promises and stalled development.

Speaking during a press briefing in Solwezi, Mr. Samakayi said residents of the province have been patient, loyal, and productive to the nation, but their patience has not translated into tangible development.

“The people of North-Western Province are disappointed with what has happened in the past 20 years. We host 3 big mines which are contributing immensely to the treasury of this country, but there is little to show, if any, in our Province,” he said.

He added that successive governments have failed to appreciate the province’s contribution, leaving youths and other residents affected by delayed projects and Development.

“We have only received nothing but promises of a university teaching hospital, Mutanda-Kasempa-Kaoma road, Solwezi-Kipushi road. These projects had their groundbreakings done but there has been no implementation,” Mr. Samakayi said.

The former MP said North-Western Province deserves to benefit directly from the investments currently operating within the region. If we talk about Kasenseli and Kikonge our youths are not benefiting as such .

“I will keep talking for North-Western Province until I die. And am receiving calls that am bittter, no am not a bitter person. I have not joined any Political Party, am yet to make a decision."he declared.

MAYO MAYO INTENSIFIES CAMPAIGN IN MPOROKOSO CONSTITUENCY

By Japhet Chongo | 27 July 2026

With just 17 days remaining before Zambia heads to the polls, National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) parliamentary candidate for Mporokoso Constituency, Bridget Chitundu, has intensified her campaign activities through door-to-door community engagements.

Speaking to residents of Mumbuluma Ward, Ms Chitundu accused the UPND government of failing to fulfil its promises on the Social Cash Transfer programme. She claimed that although the government announced an increase in the monthly benefit to K800, many vulnerable beneficiaries have allegedly experienced prolonged delays in receiving their payments.

She alleged that some recipients go for four to five months without receiving any money and, when payments are eventually made, they are not compensated for the months they had missed.

"They are playing with people's emotions. They made promises but have failed to honour them," she said.

Ms Chitundu also claimed that the UPND had failed to deliver on its pledges to reduce the cost of fertiliser, seed, and other essential commodities. She further alleged that the government's earlier position on ending the sale of cooking oil in small sachets, commonly known as tu pimisha, had not been maintained.

She urged residents not to allow political differences to divide their communities and encouraged them to remain united ahead of the elections.

Ms Chitundu also reminded the people of Mumbuluma about the voting pattern in Dundumwezi during the 2021 general election, urging them to rally behind what she described as "their own son," NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile.

She concluded by appealing to residents to continue praying for Mr Mundubile as he campaigns across the remaining provinces, asking for prayers for his safety and protection throughout the election campaign.
