Last week, some of our team members had the privilege of supporting the 2026 GLOW Camps in Mansa and Kasama at the invitation of Peace Corps Volunteers- Zambia in the two districts. They served as lead facilitators, sharing valuable life skills with young people from different rural communities.

These camps provide a safe and engaging space where young people learn, grow, build friendships, confidence and take part in meaningful extracurricular activities that help shape their future.

We are grateful for our continued partnership with the Peace Corps Zambia Volunteers. Through this collaboration, we are able to reach more young people in hard-to-reach communities with life skills and knowledge that every young person deserves. It also gives us the opportunity to better understand the needs of young people in districts and communities where we do not yet have programs.

Thank you to our dedicated team members for generously giving their time, energy, and passion throughout the week. We also extend our sincere appreciation to US Peace Corps Zambia for this valuable partnership. We look forward to continuing working together to empower more young people.

Behind every successful organization are dedicated people who give their time, passion, and heart to the work. Every achievement has unsung heroes working quietly behind the scenes.

As we begin this new week, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the incredible team behind our Place of Happiness – Day Care for Children with Special Needs project. In a world where many children and people living with disabilities still face stigma and discrimination, these have chosen compassion, love, and service. Their commitment has challenged harmful beliefs, restored hope, and created a safe and welcoming place where every child is valued.

Because of their dedication, this project continues to grow and make a lasting impact. To all our caregivers, we see you, we celebrate you, and we deeply appreciate your hard work and sacrifice. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. We wish you a blessed and fruitful week ahead. Thank you for everything you do.

Over the past years, we have continued to empower young people in Kasama with digital literacy skills, positioning our resource center as one of the recognized facilities for quality digital skills training. This week, one of our computer instructors had the opportunity to provide digital training to teachers in Kafula Village in partnership with US Peace Corps Zambia. We remain committed to expanding access to digital knowledge and creating opportunities for more people to benefit from technology. We welcome you to visit our office and register for our September classes. Our digital library continues to play a vital role in promoting learning, innovation, and equal access to information, helping young people and the wider community develop skills needed in today’s digital world. When Mourning Turns into Trauma

She attended a funeral in her village to stand with a grieving family. It was an act of compassion and tradition. But on her way home that evening, she was attacked by two men despite being heavily pregnant who dragged her into a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her. Her cries for help were heard by her husband, who rushed to her rescue and apprehended one of the suspects.

The case was reported to Bakashana/Balumendo Basambilile, and with support from Lawyers Without Borders, the survivor was transported to the hospital for urgent medical care. Officers through the Victim Support Unit later arrested the second suspect.

What began as a moment of mourning ended into trauma for a pregnant woman. No woman should ever fear for her safety while attending a funeral or travelling home.

A moment of mourning should never become a moment of trauma. We all deserve safe spaces. Together, let us end gender-based violence and build communities where every woman and girl is safe. SAY NO TO SEXUAL ABUSE!!

Every month, our Under-Five Clinic serves as a reminder that every child deserves a healthy start in life. During our under five clinics, the ministry of health gives health talks to the mothers. Through our long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Health, we continue to provide free essential health services, ensuring children receive growth monitoring, immunizations, nutrition support, and early health interventions that give them the best chance to thrive. Our Education bursary goes beyond paying school fees, we invest in raising confident, responsible, and purpose-driven young leaders. Through our supplementary curriculum, our grantees gain essential life skills, leadership, communication, and personal development that prepare them not only to succeed in school but also to make a meaningful impact in their careers and communities. Here we believe that, Education alone is not enough; true success comes from combining knowledge with character and practical life skills.

Today, we are proud to celebrate some of our university grantees who are pursuing degrees in Humanities, Creative Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, school of business and many other fields while stepping up as leaders beyond the classroom in their various institutions. Our grantees continue to make us proud and we remain deeply grateful to our dedicated support team and partners for believing in the potential of our young people and helping shape the next generation of changemakers. This year, Bakashana has been proud to partner with " TackleAfrica Tackle Africa" to take Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services to hard-to-reach communities around Kasama district. Through the power of football, Tackle Africa engages adolescents with life-saving SRH education while creating safe spaces for learning, dialogue, and positive change.

During the first and second quarters of 2026, our joint outreach activities made a meaningful impact as shown below:
⚽ 84 clients accessed HIV/AIDS services.
⚽ 43 clients received family planning services.
⚽ 6,500 condoms were distributed, reaching 127 clients with HIV prevention information and services.

This continues to prove that partnership and collective effort can break barriers, improve access to healthcare, and empower people to make informed decisions about their health and future. Together, we can end HIV and teenage pregnancy!!

Last week- 24th July 2026, we held the second series of our "Feminist Leadership Training", featuring an inspiring lineup of speakers who encouraged participants to take bold steps in advocacy, leadership, and the promotion of social justice.

Throughout the training, the speakers challenged common misconceptions about feminism. They emphasized that feminism is not about women trying to be men or men trying to be women. Rather, it is about recognizing that every person deserves equal rights, opportunities, and dignity, regardless of gender. Feminism is about creating an inclusive society where both women and men are valued, empowered to thrive, contribute, and lead without discrimination.

The session left participants inspired to become champions of equality, fairness, and positive change within their communities. We are grateful to all our speakers who joined us virtually and physically.
