THE PERFECT GUIDE TO TRUTH
After I got born again one thing I greatly desired to have was the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. As an immature believer I sought this as an experience because this is what I had been taught but it's only now that I can tell you I was ignorant of what I was searching for but the good thing is, I finally got to know after being filled with the Holy Spirit that this was just not an experience but it was actually a part of the Godhead living in me, so I came to understand that it's actually a personality living inside of you.
I would love to go into detail of what transpired when I finally got to that point where I can say I had become filled with the Holy Spirit but due to the nature of my post I will probably not do that but will definitely be happy to do so at another time. I will however mention one thing that stood out after my experience.
I know and have often heard preachers and teachers of the Word of God saying it is not good to look out for feelings to check on the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT in your life and I totally agree with that, but only just because I am sharing an experience am I going to say that after being filled with the Holy Spirit there was such an unexplainable feeling of love in my heart that I had never had felt before in my life.
Anyway experiences don't really matter but what I can say is really important is making sure the Holy Spirit continuously abides in us.
We live in a time where there are so many Men of God and Church denominations so for those who are after the religion of men are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding who to follow.
What was supposed to be the most beneficial thing because of number, has actually become the most confusing and upsetting time to make such a decision.
Why am saying that? It's all because of DOCTRINES AND TRADITIONS OF MEN.
One of the most profound statements Jesus ever said was "My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me." In a nutshell all he was saying was that I am not the ultimate source of what I teach you but he was trying to say his Father was the source.
He never wanted to formulate a doctrine out of his own line of thinking or from the traditions of Men. In a way he is saying when it comes to doctrine or anything I teach, you will not find my signature there, he excused himself from either praise or criticism of his doctrine making his followers aware who the source of his doctrine was.
I spoke earlier about the confusion that shrouds Christianity as a result of having too many Men of God and Church denominations.
Yes you are right, I read your mind there, the problem is not in the numbers but in what they teach, their doctrines and traditions.
Please allow me to list some of the doctrines, teachings and traditions in religion with the most debate and controversy:-
-Tithing vs No tithing
-Speaking in tongues vs No speaking in tongues
-Once saved forever saved
-Holy Communion vs No Holy Communion
-Trinity(One God in three)
-Predestination vs Freewill
-Sonship and Spiritual fatherhood
As usual the list is endless and you can add more to the list. These are some amongst a host of doctrines that divide the church and cause constant attacks between Church leaders and denominations.
I am not writing to discuss about which doctrines are true or not but I am just here to show you another important issue which Jesus spoke about.
In the book of John 16 verse 13, Jesus said "When the Spirit of truth(Holy Spirit) comes, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
What a wonderful promise indeed, everyone loves and wants to hear the truth and Jesus pointed out were truth can be found and he said the Holy Spirit is the one that would guide us not just to truth but ALL truth, how beautiful it is that you just don't get half truths but a promise of all truth through the Holy Spirit.
So that just goes about to show that noone and nothing can give you"All truth". No Man of God, Church leader or denomination can give you that. It's simple, when you are seeking the truth just go to the Holy Spirit for he is the source.
So are we saying there are no genuine Church leaders or denominations? a big NO all we are saying is there is only one source of truth and that's the Holy Spirit and that's why everyone should have him.
In the book of Ephesians 4 verse 11 it reads " And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers."
So this verse shows that Jesus actually assigned certain individuals to function in different offices in the Body of Christ so there are genuine Church leaders out there but let me say in capital letters NONE OF THEM DID HE SAY WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH, IT'S ONLY THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO CAN DO THAT.
Yes, I know you are going to say that God uses Church leaders and denominations to speak the truth. Yes you are right they can speak the truth but not 'ALL TRUTH".
Let me show you why I say so. Have you ever noticed that every Church leader can speak of their encounter(s) with Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, Heaven, Angels and visions or dreams. If there is anything you can't argue about with someone is their personal encounter.
You can't dispute it, measure it or verify it. These encounters are the reason why most church leaders have followers as they can easily be used by the Church leaders to validate their assignments, callings or function.
It's very funny though that in as much as most of these leaders can tell you of their encounters you will still have a Church leader who claims to have had an experience with the heavenlies attacking another Church leader who has also had an encounter with the heavenlies as well, so this is were all the confusion increases.
So the body of Christ becomes divided, cause a leader who has had an encounter with Jesus will uphold a particular doctrine which another Church leader who has also had an encounter will call heresy and vice versa.
Have you observed that every Church leader uses scripture, texts from the Bible to give authority or support to their doctrine, I have never heard any church leader, no matter how false you call them, who doesn't use the Bible to support his doctrine or teachings.
Let's give an example of the tithing and non tithing doctrine, if the Bible is the Word of God, and if it is true based on the fact that they use scripture to command tithing or to disapprove of it then it's clearly evident that there are two facts here; it either means one doctrine will be true and the other false or both are true cause both are using the Bible to support their doctrine.
So you will have a Church leader who tells you he had an encounter with Jesus and describes the beauty of heaven he saw in a vision telling you that Tithing is not required and on the other hand you have another Church leader speaking also about his divine encounter and how he has visions of heaven and Jesus but still upholding his doctrine that Tithing is not required it's an old testament thing.
To cut it all short both are speaking of one God but are differing in doctrine and though they both claim to have one father they attack each other based on doctrine.
Because of all this I will now go back to what I spoke about earlier concerning Jesus' promise of the HOLY SPIRIT. One major purpose of the HOLY SPIRIT as Jesus said was to guide us into "ALL TRUTH".
He never said I will give you or send you Men of God who will guide you into "ALL TRUTH". Am I attacking or despising Men of God? No, all I am just stressing is to show you where Jesus said we could find "ALL TRUTH".
Why then should we be bothered about which one is the genuine Man of God or true denomination cause all you will find there is partial truth but you will never find "ALL TRUTH".
We are in the dispensation of the out pouring of the HOLY SPIRIT, according to Joel 2 verse 28, 29 the Bible speaks of a time when God said "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, your old Men shall dream dreams, your young Men shall see visions and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Wow what a promise, noone is left out whether old or young or you are of the least status in society often identified as lowly.
This is a wonderful promise that gives you access to something much better than a Church leader or denomination, something that can guide you into ALL TRUTH, anything else will give you nothing but partial truth which will give you a false conclusion.
May we desire the Holy Spirit, not as an experience but as a person who will live in us and guide us. It is the Holy Spirit alone whom we can trust for it his him who is the custodian of All truth and thanks be to God that everyone has access to him freely.
Why then should we waste our time debating on which Man of God is genuine or not or which church denomination is good or bad cause none of them were we told will guide us into ALL TRUTH.
If they did then certainly Jesus would have not spoken of the HOLY SPIRIT.
In conclusion let me end by saying I believe in all offices and functions as stated in Ephesians 4 verse 11 but all I am saying is for a long time the Church has been bound by religion and have forgotten about how important the HOLY SPIRIT is and have rather chosen to identify themselves with Church leaders or denominations.
Whenever you are traveling you will definitely need a means of transport that will take you through the entire journey and make you reach your destination. In the spiritual sense it will only be the HOLY SPIRIT that will make us reach the destination of truth in its entirety.
