CURRENTLY MAKING

The Nurture Tote small batch is still in progress. I'll be honest ~ it's taken longer than I expected. I've been trying to fit production in around running every other part of the practice, and these bags are not the kind of thing you can rush through.

I've been making them slowly in small pockets of time over the past six to eight weeks, which isn't ideal, but it's the reality of working solo. They're coming. Those that are waiting, I promise they're worth the wait.

For this reason, I’ve extended made to order lead times on these to 8-10 weeks.

If you’ve had you’re eye on one, be aware to factor in the lead time when you place your order.

100% made in my Melbourne atelier, with Australian sourced leather.

It was a pinch me moment to see simétrie Bay Bags perfectly paired with Silk Laundry at the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival two weeks ago 😍

Thanks so much to Abby Bennett for seeing this perfect match. As I normally make-to-order, these were specially made for the runway.

The sharp lines of the Bay Bag add a tailored look to the otherwise softness of Silk Laundry's silhouettes. I especially love how beautifully the colours work together, and the silk scarves styled on the top handle.

All simétrie bags are handmade in my Melbourne atelier using Australian leather.

As this day comes around once again, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the ongoing strength, resilience and creativity of First Nations peoples.

At simétrie, I believe allyship is not something that happens only when it is comfortable or convenient. It requires listening, learning, and showing up with intention ~ consistently and over time.

I am fortunate to have built a platform, and with that comes responsibility. A few years ago, I created a page listing BIPOC individuals and businesses to support and amplify, and over time I aim to slowly add to it so it can serve as a resource for discovering and supporting BIPOC-led work. I have also included a variety of organisations that provide funding, legal aid, and advocacy against the systemic injustices faced by Indigenous Australians.

This is a living, permanent resource ~ one that I will continue to grow and update over time. It features businesses run by First Nations creatives whose work I admire deeply, including some I have had the privilege of working with firsthand.

My hope is that this space makes it easier for you to discover, support, and engage with their work directly, and that it contributes meaningfully to greater visibility, recognition, and respect.

As Invasion Day approaches, I’ve been reflecting on how to be a good ally here at simétrie. I believe action speaks louder than words, and I want to support in ways that are authentic and meaningful.

Donations to have been extended to 50% of sales for the rest of the month. Archives close midnight AEDT 31st January.

Together, I hope to stand in solidarity with First Nations communities, honour culture, and take action where it matters.

SIMÉTRIE SCHOOL IS OPEN

Handmade is the ultimate slow fashion, and unfortunately handmade skills are being lost. These techniques require you to slow down, pay attention, and solve problems with your hands ~ which is exactly what most of us need more of.

I have formalised my workshops as simétrie school ~ these are courses, real skill-sharing. Time-honoured techniques that allow you to create pieces that will outlive you. In a world filled with fast-everything and AI slop, that feels increasingly important.

I'm starting small with the offering and will build more over time.
If you have questions about which course suits your skill level, just DM me ~ I'm here.

The first course ~ Make a Baguette Bag [a 2-day intensive] ~ is presented by PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Independent Programme in February.

More info and courses for all skill levels are online. Visit the link below

Seven years ago, I made my first simétrie bag in a tiny shared workshop in Collingwood. Since then, I've accumulated pieces I couldn't quite let go of.

The archives are open from now until Jan 31.

Kangaroo leather pieces, Lune Pochettes from the Pisces collection, Tool Kits from the online workshop days. Once they're gone, that's it.

10% of all sales go to The Torch ~ a nonprofit providing art and culture programs to First Nations people who've been incarcerated. My small way of acknowledging that Jan 26 isn't a date to celebrate.

It’s simétrie’s 7th birthday this month. I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on what I want the next chapter to look like.

2025 was a year of deep reflection for me. Realising I’d been in survival mode for quite some time. Slowly finding my way to calmer ground. Part of that is being less present here and more focused on the work itself.

Some things are opening up. Some things are closing. Some things I’ve wanted to do for years are finally happening.

My Monthly Notes email goes out tonight at 7pm AEDT with all the details. If you want to stay up to date with what I’m actually working on, email is the best place for that.
