Easter Weekend Hours

In the running world, there’s a lot to talk about this week, with ultra marathons and speedy races on the track. Here’s a run down!

State junior track and field championships:
With 4 days of epic racing, the Junior state champs saw fast times across sprints and middle distance, with field events also garnering big jumps and throws. A special shout-out goes to Marnie Laurence who secured a gold medal in every event she competed in, totalling 6 across sprints and jumps. Amazing!

Six foot track:
Up in Katoomba, roughly 1,000 runners took to the start line of the gruelling 45km race, including one of the Runners Shop Randwick very own, Matt Wring. The event saw them scaling 20km of steep incline and crossing a lake where many were forced to swim.

I’m still standing:
This event, known as the Backyard Ultra, began down at Heffron Park on Saturday morning. It comprises of a 6.71km loop repeated at the start of each hour, where runners use any extra time to fuel and recharge as the laps continue. If a runner does not complete the lap within the hour, or fails to start the next, they are forced to finish. This goes until there is one left standing. Incredibly, two men Jacob and Ezra have recently undergone their 50th lap, setting a record for the Heffron course and they’re still looking strong. Keep going boys!

Theres been big results in the running world this week, so here are some of the stand outs!

World cross country gold (mixed 4x2km relay)
The esteemed team of 4, consisting of Jess Hull, Oliver H***e, Linden Hall and Jack Anstey, sped to gold in Tallahassee to take out the notorious relay! 🏃‍♀️ 💨

Lauren Ryan finished in 13th place in the individual 10km, leading the Australian Women’s contingent.

Ky Robinson similarly led Australia in the men’s 10km, finishing 24th and just ahead of teammate Edward Marks in 25th.

This past week held multiple exciting events in the running community, ranging from track and field to some incredible marathon racing. Here’s a look at what went down:

2025 Valencia Marathon:
In Valencia, Spain, hundreds of runners took to the starting line of this popular race. The top 25 womens results saw 3 Australians clocking under 2:30, with an Australian record from Jessica Stenson as she finished 5th in 2:21.25!

12-19 Australian Track and Field championships:
This championship is just finishing up down in Melbourne, with fast times, big jumps and amazing throws from all the athletes. A few have even earned themselves world u20 qualifying times!
