The Walrus is back! The biography of the late David "Walrus" Garrick, who briefly called New Denver home while working with the Autonomous Sinixt and Valhalla Wilderness Society, is now available. :)

After reading historian Catherine Gilbert's Walrus: The Remarkable Life of Eco-Warrior David Garrick, Green Party MP and Leader Elizabeth May wrote, "As a friend of Walrus, I mostly spent time with him through my close and dear friend Colleen McCrory – working with Colleen and Walrus in the years they worked with amazing NDP MP, Jim Fulton. . . . The King of Sandon is here! After 20 years of research and writing, this long-awaited biography of the legendary Johnny Harris by regional historian – and Valley native – Greg Nesteroff is finally out. If you missed today's very well-attended book launch, please come by the Raven's Nest and grab yourself a signed copy.

There are great new books out from Valley and West Kootenay authors, including some Raven's Nest bestsellers: our own Therese DesCamp's Hands Like Roots, former resident Peter Smith's Mining Camp Tales of the Silvery Slocan, and West Kootenay Hiking from Nelson's Abby Wilson.🙂

Completing a March collaborative artist residency at The Aunte in New Denver were Nelson's Zaynab Mohammed and Smokii Sumac of the East Kootenay, and they both have poetry books out now!❤
