Plot twist: your cozy ugg boots were never supposed to be a fashion statement.

Before they were all over the runways, they were work boots for tough sheep shearers in 1920s Australia. Then the surfers found them 🏄‍♂️ In the ‘60s and ‘70s, they pulled them on straight out of the freezing ocean to thaw their feet.
Next stop: California ☀️ Surf shops there started selling them in the ‘70s, and before long the whole world was wearing them.

The trench coat was designed for actual trenches. That belt, those shoulder straps, the little D-rings at the waist — none of it is decoration. The trench coat was engineered for officers in WWI: the D-rings held map cases and equipment (some say grenades), the storm flap let rain run off, and the double layer of gabardine kept soldiers dry in the trenches that gave the coat its name. A century later you’re wearing military kit to brunch.

Vintage pieces keep their history, and that’s part of what makes them special. 🧥
