Vintage Anatolian kilim from Adana. Circa 1940s. Handwoven by a weaver named Nesrin from hand-spun sheep’s wool. 318 × 103 cm

An asymmetric (tek kanatlı) kilim in rich reds and earthy tones, woven with symbols of harmony, intuition and flow. Yin & Yang, Elibelinde, the comb, the eye and the waterway. A deeply personal piece that celebrates balance, feminine wisdom and the ever-changing journey of life.

The Bull

Nomadic Tülü sleeping rug from Konya. Mid-century. Natural hand-spun sheep’s wool & madder root.
180 × 123 cm.

The bull is one of the most prominent symbols found at the Neolithic site of Çatalhöyük. I interpret the bulls as holding space and protecting the dowry chest, a symbol of the womb, feminine power and the place of intuition and creation.

Between the two bull-and-chest medallions sits the comb, a tool used to weave the kilim. To me, it is also a symbol for gathering the threads of life when they become tangled/ bringing them into harmony and creating something meaningful from them. Before creation there’s chaos.

This joyful Filikli Yatak from my private collection became part of the latest campaign for Rundfunkchor Berlin, inspired by the idea of a Klangteppich - a carpet of sound.

I love that! Because music and textiles feel deeply connected to me. Individual sounds, individual threads, woven together into something larger than themselves.

Thanks everyone involved for bringing this beautiful vision to life.

Today I had the honor of welcoming Zeliha Eliaçık , the German representative of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü to my showroom.

We spoke about handmade clothing, Anatolian kilims, and the stories they carry across generations. I especially loved learning that many of the beautiful garments she wears were designed and sewn by her mother. What a blessing!

Conversations like today remind me how deeply cultural heritage, craftsmanship and storytelling connect us and are worth sharing.

I’m really looking forward to collaborating on future events and workshops exploring the culture and symbolism of Anatolian together.

Tanıştığımıza çok memnun oldum Zeliha Hanım. Yakında görüşmek üzere. ✨

I recently sourced an amazing Afyon Dazkırı yatak (bed rug) from the beginning of the 20th century for a dear customer of mine.

It looks so happy in its new home, bathing in the sun.

The same customer also bought one of my favourite kilims from last year’s delivery- a shamanic yolluk from Köprübaşı.

A home filled with beautiful symbols and a little bit of magic ✨
