Our team lives and breathes health, fitness and wellness. Between us, we have spent decades working in this industry.

Swipe through a luxury HIIT studio style home gym, built for a private client near Manchester.

Inspired by a private luxury boutique studio, full design and build across 850sq ft.

Premium BLK BOX Nexus rack and competition plates, hex dumbbells on a two tier rack.

Watson Gym Equipment and Technogym benches, AssaultBike, AssaultRunner & AssaultRower curve treadmill, Assault bike classic, Concept2 UK & Ireland Ski and Row Ergs, hanging boxing bag and Technogym Skilltools kit.

Wall mounted AC, illuminated wall mounted sign, mirrors and a wireless surround sound system throughout, with recessed linear LED lighting controlled via tablet, wrapping the C.V kit and framing the stretching area.

New flooring throughout, including Karndean LVT with bespoke chrome nosings to the stairs and stretching area, and dark grey rubber roll to the main gym area.

Which finishes actually age well, and which look tired within two years?

Great gym design is not just about the first impression.

It is about materials that continue to perform, look sharp and support operational efficiency for years.

Shower Areas.
The choice between light and dark tiles should follow how the space will be used.

Dark tiles are the better option in high traffic shower zones.
They disguise scuffs, staining and everyday wear while maintaining a clean appearance between maintenance cycles.

Light tiles make smaller shower areas feel brighter and more spacious, but they require more frequent cleaning to keep them looking their best.

Locker surfaces.
Locker doors, benches and surrounding surfaces take constant use.

Specifying a high pressure laminate (HPL) delivers a durable, impact resistant finish that stands up to daily knocks, with a smooth, wipeable surface that supports efficient cleaning and hygiene.

Robust materials at these touch points extend the life of the fit out and maintain a premium appearance.

Dry Vanity Areas.
Vanity countertops are another hardworking element within a changing room.

Solid surface materials such as Corian offer exceptional durability, resist moisture, staining and everyday wear, and are non porous.

They are also easy to repair if damaged, making them a strong long term investment for facilities looking to reduce maintenance costs while retaining a high quality finish.

Most developers think equipment drives usage.
It doesn’t.

The environment does.

Floor space is precious, and the gym and wellness space is usually the first thing that gets brushed over once everything else is dialed in.

The interior designer’s expertise is the finishes, layout and aesthetic. The equipment supplier’s expertise is the machines themselves.

We work alongside both to bring in the piece that ties it all together, how residents will actually experience the space.

You can drop serious money on the most expensive equipment, and if the space isn’t designed around it, it’s wasted spend. Nobody uses it, it just sits there.

The developers doing this well aren’t spending more, they’re designing better.

A beautiful home gym should do more than look good in a photo. It should work for the people who use it every single day.

That’s what we set out to achieve with this family wellness space. At LIFTD Design, every square metre has a purpose.
The space evolves with the family’s daily routine.

A climbing wall gives the children an active place to play and burn off energy.

A dedicated yoga area gives Mum a calm space for movement and stretching.

Strength and cardio zones make it easy to fit workouts into busy family life.

Sauna and recovery close out the space, for recharging after training or a long day.
