We had a busy weekend. Taking advantage of the good weather, we were able to make one last push to get the roof done before conditions turn sour. While our Viking-style dwelling is starting to take shape, there is still a small section of roof that needs to be taken care of... Can we succeed before winter comes? That's the priority, but we know Scottish weather is unpredictable.

While we are over the moon celebrating Bayeux Tapestry very first exhibition on the British soil, we have decided to pay a small tribute to this spectacular event! Here’s a small Griffin from the tapestry’s band - reproduced to commemorate the 1066 events same as the tapestry’s original artists mastership!

Shine bright like a diamond... 💎
🔸️NEW VIKING HOOD🔸️
Handwoven diamond twill was known in the Viking age textile production. There are several finds from Birka, Sweden graves as well as broken diamond twill fragments from Oseberg, Norway. This type of twill weave pattern featuring small, repeating lozenge or diamond shapes was often used for fine garments and luxury clothing.

Double trouble! Our take on so called ‘Monkey Faces’ featured on one of the Oseberg sledges.
Interestingly enough most of the elements were originally painted but faded away ( its been documented during the excavation process) So we might consider looking at the subject in more detail in the future - possibly painting all the carvings as well…

Anyway since those two are finally completed its time to focus on commissions coming in recent times.

While its Friday we have decided to pay homage to Freya,
the powerful and revered goddess associated with love, fertility, and magic.
We know that Friday is mainly associated with F***g but on the other hand, in Scandinavian countries, where Norse mythology originates, the day is known as ‘Fredag’. This term bears a closer resemblance to ‘Freya’, leading to a stronger association with this goddess in these regions. It’s fascinating to see how language shapes our understanding of mythology and history.
