I’ve not posted much recently. No big reason really but I have been working with some lovely tartans over the last few months and pics will follow soon. Today I’m trying to get pleat sizes to work on this Scott tartan. It’s part of a very exciting project which I’ll share more of when it’s finished and my customer is absolutely happy. It’s a bit of a leap that I’ve been asked to take so a mixture of nerves and excitement just now. Some focus on the pleats will help ☺️

When I drew these as part of a first year architecture project, (did you know that I used to be an architect?), I never imagined that one day you wouldn’t be able to ever draw them again. I was so fortunate to be able to spend time in the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow School of Art building. From having some quiet time in the beautiful library to hanging out in the Hen Run (a glazed corridor at the top of the building linking the two sides) to buying any supplies in the shop to wandering around seeing all the amazing art in the degree shows, to sitting on the somewhat uncomfortable benches in the lecture theatre but listening to some amazing architects. What an absolute privilege 😌

Delighted to have heard that the first of the two kilts in the brand new Malik tartan is fitting well. 10 years of making kilts and I still get nervous at the fitting! Shows that I care though and I really do! Every single stitch is important.

How stunning are these blue hydrangeas?!!! Lots of large well established bushes creating a ‘hedge’ of gorgeousness 😍 Loads of different colours just now. Do you have a favourite? Does anyone know what soil you need for the different colours? I have a pink in my garden but love the blues/purples.
