It’s been 6 weeks since we launched our A0 pattern printing service…it’s absolutely flown by and we love the newest member of The Sewing Institute team 🫶🏻 who we introduced for our incredibly low key 11th birthday!

We have printed 100’s of sheets, got to know dozens of design companies, we’ve received most of the via our website (have you given uploading a try yet?), email, airdrop 🍏 and we’ve even done the techy bit for those of you who hate computers 🤭

She’s been printing seamlessly in the background and enjoying free pattern Fridays the most but I thought if was about time I give our Canon lass a little shout out and ask if you’ve got any questions too????

A0 sheets are £1.75 per page b&w or colour, there’s multiple upload options from your phone, tablet or computer and our turnaround time is pretty speedy for tracked 48 or 24 Royal Mail postage! If your local to the studio we can print for you within minutes (just enough time to browse the fabric room 🤭)

FREE PATTERN FRIDAY…

Hey there, how has Friday come around again? This week I'm back to introducing you to 5 new patterns and this week's selection are all dresses because this weather is so hard to dress for ATM! At least witty dresses you can style them with trainers & a light jacket in the morning, whip the jacket off when the sun spontaneously comes out to boil you & then when the wind picks up from nowhere you can throw the jacket back on and wrap a scarf around your neck when your suddenly shivering- tell me its not just me that keeps getting how to dress wrong?

These patterns all have pretty simple silhouettes, a range of necklines, hemlines, sleeves, pocket options and Meave even has an adults, childrens & tweens version too…i feel the inspiration for a future week coming on there (watch this space)

My aim with this feature is to share with you new companies/designers, stress free pattern printing 😉and some fresh inspiration each week!

Well done today champs- our wall storage was the trickiest class of the summer- lots and lots of sewing, pivoting, practicing curves & precision topstitching! There was a lot to tackle in 2 hours and I think both little creatives and the big helpers were worn out afterwards 🤭

But all the effort and concentration was definitely worth it 🥰I’ve got a feeling our adults might like to make these too 🤭

So what would you fill yours with? stationary, hair accessories, sewing supplies? Toys/fidgets/squishes? Or something else? 🤔

FREE PATTERN FRIDAY…

Hey, I'm back for my favourite installment of the week- and it turns out (thanks to several bits of feedback today) that it's also become a highlight of your week too!! This week it's a little bit different as I started to worry that I was overwhelming you with patterns?! I love having choice & I know not every pattern appeals to everyone so ive shared 30 patterns in little over a month but sometimes it's hard to know where to start when there's not much time and patterns flying at you thick & fast! SO with that said ive picked our favourite 5 that together i think will make a great mix & match capsule wardrobe!

Sorry it’s raining today 🌧️ it’s because we made the CUTEST shorts yesterday 🤭

Our tweens tackled their first ever dress pattern 🫶🏻taking body measurements, cutting a paper pattern to size, laying & cutting out pattern pieces, sewing outside, inside leg & crotch seams, making elastic casing, threading elastic, hems & stitching in the ditch to prevent the elastic twisting!

Lots more fabric bundles went home yesterday after to make more pairs 🙌🏻

Don’t they look amazing!!!!

Well done to our incredible little creatives for doing such a beautifully professional job on these stationary/brush/crochet hook rolls- you’ve utilised your existing sewing skills and then developed them a little more to make these super cool creations!
A perfect gift to make for a friend or family with just a 1/4m of fabric, some heavy weight interfacing and a little bit of ribbon 👌

Next week’s projects for our under 16’s are wall storage and zipper bags- more great skills to have under your belts!
