Trust the Process ❤️
If you've ever been in my studio, you've probably heard me say, "Trust the process." It's something I remind my brides of every day when they're in the middle of alterations.
Now, with just four weeks until my own wedding, I've realised how much harder it is to take that advice when you're the one standing in front of the mirror.
I've just had my second fitting, and if I'm honest, I'd been carrying a little anxiety since the first one.... (ok a LOT of anxiety lol)
Even though I know how bridal alterations work, I found myself struggling to visualise the finished dress. All I could see were the bits that weren't quite there yet. It's so easy to focus on what's unfinished, or what doesn't feel quite right, instead of trusting what your seamstress can already see.
Today changed that.
For the first time, I could really see my dress. It finally started to feel like the dress I'll walk down the aisle in, and I left feeling excited instead of anxious.
It's also reminded me just how incredibly talented bridal seamstresses are. What they do is so much more than taking a dress in or letting it out. They have the vision to see the finished result long before we do, and the skill and patience to bring it to life, one fitting at a time.
A huge thank you to my wonderful seamstress The Laurel Tree for making a difficult journey much easier. Her craftsmanship and reassurance have meant the world to me, and I'm so grateful.
So if you're in the middle of your own alterations and wondering if your dress will ever feel right, take it from someone who's now experienced both sides of the fitting room. The anxiety is completely normal. Sometimes you simply can't visualise the end result, and that's okay.
Trust your seamstress. Trust the process. One appointment at a time, your dream dress WILL come to life. ❤️
