A large katazome textile from the Meiji–Taisho period.

Over many years of use, worn areas were repaired with pieces of checked and striped cotton cloth. The patches remain as a record of everyday life, showing how textiles were valued and cared for rather than replaced.

The contrast between the geometric katazome pattern and the later repairs gives this piece a quiet beauty that could only have developed through use.

Suitable for wall display or as a unique textile for interior spaces.
