Battenwear is for the adventurer who needs well made clothing that can handle the demands of the outdoors while still being fashionable for everyday city wear.

Designer Shinya Hasegawa--who previously worked and trained under Daiki Suzuki for the Woolrich Woolen Mills collection--is a lifelong vintage clothing hound. His inspiration for Battenwear comes from late 1960s through early 1980s surf and outdoor wear, an era of clothing that represented the constant change, challenge, and energy of the times. Using this vintage vibe as a jumping off point, Shin

ya designs Battenwear for the contemporary adventurer. An avid traveler himself, Shinya gravitates toward making clothing and accessories that are versatile, multi-functional, easily packable, and as comfortable as they are stylish. Shinya is also motivated by his experiences as a year-round East Coast surfer. He knows that surfing and other outdoor pursuits--like hiking, climbing, and camping--breed people who are dedicated to their sport in a way that defines them in their day-to-day life, no matter where they are or what they happen to be doing. It took us almost a year to find Battenwear’s new home base in Tokyo, and by the time we found it, we already had SS27 exhibitions underway . . . so we’ve barely had time to move in, but we DID have time to ask let our new neighborhood committee know that we wanted to support the local matsuri! Long live summer festivals!

We spent the last 3 days hanging out and meeting customers at one of our favorite spots in Tokyo: BARNSTORMER. It’s just around the corner from our new office in Morish*ta and has such a great vibe. Next time you’re in Tokyo, go get yourself a pair of excellent chinos there. They’re celebrating their 50th anniversary this year!

This week we finished SS27 preorders in London and Tokyo West. Next week we’ll be in our Tokyo East showroom at .official showing our 15th anniversary collection to store buyers, press, and friends.

Nothing more energizing than hanging out with a bunch of people who care about the things we make ❤️🙇🏻❤️
