A little personal favour from me/mum 😍

I’m borrowing this page for something completely non bridal today.

My son Connor is a third year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Canterbury, and he’s currently looking for a summer internship for 2026/27.

He’s open to opportunities in Christchurch, Wellington or Invercargill, so I thought I’d call on this amazing community of ours.

"Diamond Sky" you have my heart 🩷

It’s one of my absolute favourites but not just because she is absolutely stunning, it's because of how she made me feel.

The beautiful shape, that gorgeous volume through the hips, the delicate lace and the way everything just sits. I felt beautiful in her, and that feeling is something I want every bride to experience.

Because finding your wedding dress isn’t only about looking beautiful in the mirror. It’s about putting something on and suddenly standing a little taller, smiling a little differently and thinking, Oh wow is that really me.

That’s the magic I’m always looking for when I choose gowns for our studio.

Four brides. Four very different YES moments. And every single one so special. 💕

From a bride who just walked past our window and wanted to show her fiancé her dream dress, and walked away knowing it really was the one, to brides who arrived with their people fully invested in the mission, ready to laugh, encourage, give opinions and celebrate when that magic moment happened.

That’s what I love about bridal. No two appointments are ever the same. Some YES moments are quiet and emotional, some are loud and full of laughter, and some have the whole family involved.

But that moment when a bride looks in the mirror and has never felt more beautiful, thats my WHY.

Some bridal appointments feel extra special and Katie’s was certainly one of them.

Katie travelled all the way from Auckland, two flights and an overnight stay to come and see us for her very first wedding dress experience.

And did I mention she did it all during orange wind warnings! Now that's commitment to finding your dream dress!

She brought along two very special people, her gorgeous mum and her 13 year old son, to share the moment with her.

Knowing the effort Katie made to come all that way and trusting me with her very first experience trying on wedding dresses was such an honour.

And the best part, She found THE ONE and said YES! 🥂

Katie, thank you for choosing Brides by Donna Rae and travelling across the country to find your dress with us. It truly means more than you know.

Behind every "YES!" is a moment we'll never forget.

When a bride chooses us to be part of one of the biggest moments of her life, it means more than we can put into words. It's a privilege we never take for granted. Out of all the bridal boutiques she could have visited, she trusted us to help her find the dress she'll wear on one of the most important days of her life.

We celebrate every happy tear, every nervous smile, every heartfelt hug, and every joyful "This is the one!" right alongside you. Those moments are the reason we love what we do.

Congratulations to Sophie, Ellie and Addie (plus our camera shy gals 😉) who has said yes with us recently. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your story. It is an honour to walk this journey with you xx
