Every time we get together, a friend of ours somehow manages to bring us back to the same question: do we really have free will? The music we listen to, the books we read, the clothes we wear. How much of it comes down to personal taste and how much is about trying to become a certain kind of person?

We took two pairs of Vans, gave them entirely made-up personalities and built their little worlds around them. Stereotyping, indeed. Social media-shaped personalities.

Now we’re curious: which one feels more like you? And which one would you like to be?

Long story short, both pairs are online and ready to shape who you think you are.

We’ve seen it happen over and over again: things once considered uncool becoming desirable, sometimes even must-haves in our wardrobes. And the fashion industry has a special way of putting the most unexpected things in the spotlight. 🧐

I’m having my coffee in trail shoes and picking my next running shoes based on how good they’ll look with my city outfits. 😝

I’ve gone back to wired headphones and digital cameras. Now even carrying a book has become a fashion statement?

None of these things were originally meant to make a fashion statement. They had a purpose, and somewhere along the way, culture gave them a whole new one.

We finished East of Eden last night and we’re hooked.

I must admit, I was pretty biased against Steinbeck because The Grapes of Wrath really wasn’t my cup of tea back in high school - any Coșbuc people around? But this one was waaaay better than expected.

Naturally, I was left with one question:

 No hype required. Practical, curious and ready to get the job done.

 Quietly the smartest choice in the room. You might not get it immediately. He does.

There was a time when TV could make or break your shot at becoming famous. Does anyone here remember the good old MTV TRL?

Time has passed and things are slightly different now.

yunglean2001 made his US television debut this week. Which feels slightly absurd when you remember he’s been part of the conversation since 2013.

Yes, I am talking about that kid from Sweden who went viral for drinking Arizona Tea in a supermarket while singing what would later be known as emo rap.

YouTube came first. Then US tours, Calvin Klein, Blonde, Converse, TikTok discovering Ginseng Strip 2002 all over again, UTOPIA, Brat. Television somehow came last.

13 years is a long time to wait for your “arrival”.
