November is my birthday month and this year I wanted to celebrate a little differently.

If you've followed 4 Pawd for any length of time, you know my dogs are a pretty big part of my world. And if you've ever met Polly, you know exactly who runs this operation 🤣

But what you might not know is that Polly, Lulu and Delaney all came into our lives thanks to the amazing people at Oh My Dog Rescue.

Three very different personalities. Three very different stories. And three reminders of just how much love a second chance can bring.

So this November, we're giving a little of that love back!

🍂☕ HELLO, NOVEMBER 🎄❤️

The pumpkins are still hanging around, the Christmas decorations are starting to make their appearance and the coffee? Well, that’s a year-round necessity around here 😂

November is that magical little in-between month where pumpkin spice and peppermint coexist, cozy sweatshirts and leggings are practically a uniform and we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to fall…but Christmas is already knocking on the door.

A little behind the scenes of the woman behind the colorful chaos - Katie Niemants Marshall ❤️

Can I just say that I feel personally betrayed by my favorite season?! 🤣

Fall is hands down my favorite time of year, with winter and Christmas right on its heels. But October? October and I are NOT on speaking terms right now.

October was supposed to be extra special this year. We celebrated ONE YEAR of having our very own 4 Pawd storefront! Something I'm incredibly proud of and had been looking forward to celebrating. But apparently October had other plans.

Between our wedding anniversary not going quite how I'd hoped, our living room ceiling deciding to come crashing down on me (yes, literally!) and the chaos of replacing kitchen appliances that took days to FINALLY arrive, it's felt like every time I turned around, something else was going sideways.

And if I've seemed a little MIA lately, well...now you know why.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that behind a small business is an actual human being who's juggling all the same everyday life stuff as everyone else. Some days I'm rocking it. Other days I'm just trying to figure out what the heck happened.

But Sunday, Mr. 4 Pawd (Jeff Marshall) decided I needed a little cheering up and surprised me with an early birthday gift.

If you know me, you know Gilmore Girls is one of my all-time favorite shows. And now I have THREE cookbooks full of Stars Hollow goodness to get lost in along with a Luke's Diner apron ❤️

It's the little things, isn't it?

October may have tried its hardest to steal my favorite season, but I'm determined to finish it on a better note.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some very important decisions to make...like which recipe to try first.

And tell me, has October been kicking anyone else's butt, or is it just me?!
