The catalogue for the highly anticipated auction of Martin Margiela's personal archive is now live at Kerry Taylor Auctions, offering a rare glimpse into the designer's private world ahead of the sale on July 9.
The auction features signed sketches, early presentation materials, prototypes, iconic Maison Martin Margiela pieces, and treasures from his years at Hermès.
Highlights include:
• Signed and dated pencil sketches
• A presentation folder from the Golden Spindle Competition, Antwerp (Spring–Summer 1984)
• A prototype white voile mask (1988)
• Martin Margiela's personal white-painted rotary telephone (c. 1988)
• Ken and Barbie dolls dressed in miniature Maison Martin Margiela looks
• A miniature draped ensemble from the "Terrain Vague" collection (Spring–Summer 1990)
• Painted graffiti Tabi boots (1991)
• A fringe diadem and vintage Polaroid from the "Over Hiver" collection (Autumn–Winter 2000–01)
• A DVD reproduction of the legendary Pitti Uomo show (2006)
• Martin Margiela's personal painted pin-on tie prototype (Spring–Summer 2002)
• His personal "No Logo" T-shirt (Spring–Summer 2002)
• Numerous Hermès by Martin Margiela pieces, including the rare White Bus bag (2003)
The live auction will take place in Paris on Thursday, July 9 at 2pm, with bidding on some lots starting at €300.
