Palermo in July. 40°C. The heat bouncing off those beautiful ancient bricks like a furnace. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

And I left the building anyway. Because I had the All Seasons Pinafore and honestly, it made it almost bearable. 😄

I am so glad I packed this one 🧳. It has been an absolute lifesaver on this trip — cool, easy, comfortable, and somehow still put-together even when the temperature is trying to kill you. Just throw it on and go.

No waistband. No fussing. It skims the body without clinging, looks good over almost anything, and works in every climate — hence the name.

I’m wearing it here in a cotton and it is doing everything I need it to do.

Let’s talk fit 😊

The A-Line Button Top comes with two size charts — your body measurements and the finished garment measurements. I do this because our bodies are all different, and knowing both helps you make the right call.

The most important thing with this top: your shoulder seam needs to sit on your shoulder point. It’s not a boxy drop-shoulder style…and if you try to fit closer to your bust the shoulders and neck will be too tight.

I have narrow shoulders relative to my bust, so I chose a small. My bust measurement said medium — but the pleat at the front gives you around 2 inches of extra room, and because it’s an A-line there’s plenty of fabric through the body. So if you have narrow shoulders and a larger bust, go with your shoulder measurement. Same in reverse.

Don’t be alarmed when you look at the garment measurement around the bust — there’s a lot of ease in this top, much more than it looks like when you’re wearing it. It works. Trust it.

One thing I’ve noticed: some people size down because they see the volume and think they need less fabric. But going too small actually tightens the shoulder — and this top hangs from the shoulder. That’s where the structure and the slimming effect comes from. A dropped or sloppy shoulder adds bulk; a clean shoulder line takes it away. Trust the shoulder measurement.

I haven’t taken this top off since I started travelling. That probably says everything. 😄

Feel Good Dress — Part 1. Finding the fabric.

I’m in Edinburgh and I have just come home from — and I could not believe it when I found they carry Merchant & Mills fabrics. I haven’t been able to get my hands on them in person since arriving in Europe. And then this. A beautiful green check linen.

That feeling when you find the one — I cannot explain it. I just want to start immediately.

Am I the only one who gets this excited about fabric? 😄

I’m wearing my Feel Good Dress in a rayon linen and can’t wait to see it made in this gorgeous check! 💚💚

But first I need a sewing studio. And I think I’ve found one. In Orkney — the islands at the very top of Scotland… Kirkwall Library and Archive have a Lend & Mend, how fantastic 🙌 just perfect as I’m heading there to see Skara Brae 🤸🏽

Five months of travelling and I finally made something just for me. My Pencil Skirt pattern 🙌

I’d been missing something cool and simple in my wardrobe — the kind of thing you just throw on in the July heat and feel good in. So I made this in my bedroom in Palermo, in 40°C heat, because it was the only room with air conditioning. 🫠

And it was such a fun make. There’s something about sewing in a beautiful environment that just makes the whole thing feel like a treat. 🩶

Two seams. Elastic waist. Scooped hem. That’s genuinely it. 🤩

Because the skirt is cut on the bias, it moves with your body — and the elastic waist fits your actual waist and your hips. Which I need, after six weeks in Italy. 🍕

I made a size small and took it up a little — just too hot for anything long.
