Today’s pick is this amazing figural modernist wood sculpture by noted artist George Dergalis (Greek-American 1928-2012). This dimensional piece was constructed using several individual carved wood pieces and assembled giving it unique dimension and texture. Signature and date (1985) is carved directly into the base. This incredible piece is a bit of a departure from his typical paintings and constructions, making it quite a rare find. DM for price.

Dergalis was born in Greece and served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received his MFA at the Accademia Della Belle Arti in Rome, Italy. He continued his studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he also taught. In addition, he taught at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln MA and was a longtime resident of Wayland MA. He had numerous international solo and group exhibitions, and his work is included in many public and corporate collections.

Today’s pick is this vintage rustic industrial brass glove mold mounted on a stand. This poor guy lost his thumb long ago in what I suspect was a horrible industrial accident, but he has learned to adapt well with only four gold fingers. This piece makes a fabulous decor accent piece. It is unusual to find a glove mold in brass - they are most often found in ceramic or wood. It is in rustic condition showing wear and patina from years of hard work in the glove factory. DM for price.

Today’s pick is just back from getting a fresh updated look at the upholsterer! This mid century lounge chair looks pretty smashing with its new clothes made of high performance wide wale corduroy. Golden hue, perfect for a cozy fall evening. I love the design details of this chair - the little flair out of the arms, the back pillow that’s just a little taller than the body of the chair, the delicate walnut tapered legs…and of course with its golden corduroy upholstery, makes for one good looking and comfy chair! DM for price.
