This farmer here is speaking so much truth. The story he’s telling is heartbreaking and I have some feelings about it. I feel so
Much sadness with him that this is happening. I’m also so angry that it’s happening. He’s right there is enough profit to go around except for the fact that there are individuals and corporations that are so greedy and careless that they want the wealth for themselves. The industrial farms have been a problem for a long time.
The generational farmland is being sold because the farming communities have been left with generational debt. The cost of farming is obscene. Farmers are forced to sell land,equipment, and livestock to big companies and billionaires. The younger generations seem to be moving away from wanting to farm as well. These giant corporations want the land for developing distribution centers,data centers,land gets sold in order to build hotels,and fast food restaurants,and ridiculously sized glorified gas stations. These companies are coming for public lands,indigenous lands that are sacred. For mining,forestry,and drilling. Which is history repeating itself. All in the name of greed and profit. He’s right we all need to speak up before it’s gone. Time is running out.
This affects us all regardless of where you stand on political views. We need to work together. If nothing changes. Nothing changes. Care about your neighbor,care about where our food comes from care about the land and the animals that we depend on.
