A retail boutique with the feeling of an Old World salon, a fragrance expert will navigate you through the seldom-explored art of seducing the senses. We are over the moon to announce that our next in-store event, and our official 10th Anniversary Party, will be more of a social event than our standard ticketed Q & A events, and will rightfully center on the beloved Portland perfume brand Imaginary Authors and their incredible newest release, Impassable Wilderness. Imaginary Authors has been with Fumerie since day one, all ten years, and is likely responsible for more folks’ interest in artful, playful, and independent perfumery than any other brand we carry! Join us, as well as Josh Meyer (Imaginary Authors’ perfumer and Co-Founder) and Ashod Simonian (Imaginary Authors’ Creative Director and Co-Founder), after hours Sunday, October 25th from 4:30 - 7 PM to mingle with fellow smell nerds and community members, explore Impassable Wilderness and other Imaginary Authors fragrances, and enjoy some fun surprises from our friends & neighbors! Enjoy Imaginary Authors-inspired cocktails and mocktails from our next-door neighbors at 1919 and some surprises from our friends down the street (and Imaginary Authors collaborators), Salt & Straw Ice Cream as well!

This informal social event will not only be a great opportunity to celebrate Fumerie’s anniversary and meet other members of this wonderful community, but it will equally serve as the Grand Premier of Impassable Wilderness, a fragrance co-created by the team behind the film Wildwood by local production studio Laika!

To help us celebrate the launch of this Portland-themed collaboration, Bagdad Theater has been kind enough to collaborate with us for our party as well; by providing folks with the opportunity to experience Impassable Wilderness in the most ideal way possible: right after seeing the film that inspired it! We’re happy to share that folks who attend the 12 PM or 3:15 PM showings of Wildwood at the Bagdad Theater the day of our party can then come by Fumerie to experience the accompanying fragrance and receive a FREE 2ml surprise spray sample from Imaginary Authors by showing your ticket! *while supplies last

Just beyond the city of Portland in the Pacific Northwest, there’s a place where people just don’t go. The forest is too deep. The hills are too steep. Overgrown and impassable, these woods have remained hidden for generations from the world outside. Prue McKeel, however, desperately needs to get inside. Her baby brother Mac has been snatched up by a murder of beady-eyed crows and carried away into the darkest depths of the forest, and she has to save him.

But what started out as a rescue mission becomes something much more.

This is the story of a girl who learns how far she must go to hold on to the ones she loves, and of a woman who never learned to let go. It is a tale of love, loss, sacrifice and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep, if you are willing to look for it.

Portland is a small town, and we’re fortunate to have such a tight-knit creative community. Imaginary Authors has ties to many talented members of the LAIKA team, including the Production Designer of WILDWOOD, Nelson Lowry, who happens to be a big fan of niche fragrances from around the world and helped develop this fragrance with them. Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis, who wrote and illustrated the original WILDWOOD books, are also close personal friends of the Imaginary Authors crew (Ashod used to house-sit for them at the house that inspired the trilogy!).

We are thrilled and honored to announce that Fumerie is now the only official retailer in the world!
We are also excited to share that samples of Ore and SĂĄdanne are live NOW! There is a strict limit of one sample of each fragrance for each customer/ household. Bottles of both fragrances will be available at exactly 12 pm (noon) PST, Saturday, October 10th.
If you need to sample a Slumberhouse fragrance before making a purchase, now is your chance! There will be no opportunity to ponder this purchase on the day of its release; our last public release sold out in 30 seconds! Those who add a bottle to their cart and check out first will be the lucky few who will secure a bottle of Ore or SĂĄdanne.
Slumberhouse products are excluded from our sales and promotions, including our current 10% off Anniversary sale. We will not accept requests for holds, and we do not answer emails, DMs, or phone calls about Slumberhouse.

Sinbad
Created by Thomas Fontaine and Delphine Thierry, Sinbad is a perfect balance of resins, spice, and an underlying earthiness.

Dorian’s Spleen
Dorian’s Spleen is a fascinating take on addiction in its many facets. It is a rich wh**ky aroma, intertwined with the sweetness of caramel, coffee, and dark chocolate.

Linfa
Linfa creates a precise balance, a realistic and coherent vegetal sensation, reminiscent of the stem and living structure of a flower. The base introduces an unexpected nuance, definable as a “nature gourmand”: sweet, slightly enveloping, yet always anchored in a vegetal dimension.

Happy September and welcome back to another season of heartfelt customer appreciation! Every year we find multiple ways to celebrate our wonderful community and hopefully ease some of the stress of the holidays. For the month of September, with every order we fill, in person and online, extra manufacturers samples on top of any applicable in-house samples will be included. We are adding these samples with a sort of randomized flare in hopes that you are able to explore something outside of your typical realm, and unexpectedly fall in love!

Amongst our many exciting and exceptional is the collection from Fischersund in the form of a fragrance, a candle, and a 10” vinyl record. Fischersund, the family-run art collective, and Farmers Market, the celebrated Icelandic design house, have joined forces to release KOT – a scent born from a shared understanding of what it means to gather outdoors in Iceland. This unique partnership marks the first collaboration between two of the country’s most distinctive creative families. The fragrance distills the slowness of an afternoon that stretches into evening, the comfort of ritual, and the shared warmth of outdoor tradition. Cedarwood and cypress root the fragrance in something earthy, while fresh hay opens the composition with a pastoral quality and unexpected marzipan arrives sweet, like a memory.
