We sell rocks. How complicated could it possibly be? 😂 Well… funny you should ask.

Welcome to another episode of What Exactly Do We Do Here All Day?

It’s Friday, which means rt now, insurance claim processing with our support team. Yes, THAT insurance claim. The one from the explosion in September 2025. We’re still at it.

Today’s agenda was pretty straightforward. Which was adorable of us.🤪 Cuz the day had other plans.

Three vendors, several deliveries, new displays, an avalanche of inventory, customers, banking, pricing, and a never-ending game of retail Tetris trying to fit it all into the shop.

And then the day took another lil detour into business coaching, pricing strategy, reassurance, and emotional support.

Apparently, the crystals aren’t the only things providing grounding around here. 🫶

Meanwhile, an entire collection of gorgeous new rings has been sitting on the counter, patiently awaiting its introduction to society.

The insurance paperwork? Still there. The unopened inventory? Also still there. Our original to-do list? We’ve lost contact with it. We wish it well. 🤦‍♀️

And now it’s closing time… Which is exciting because we can finally start working on all the things we came here to do today. 🤣

That’s the funny thing about having a little shop. The hours on the door are only part of the story. The work continues long after the customers go home, and sometimes on the days we’re supposedly closed.

It’s messy, creative, unpredictable, occasionally ridiculous, and somehow still one of our most favorite things in the world.🙏🏼

We get to meet wonderFULL people, work with talented makers, build a beautiful space, and help people find things that make them happy.

And every once in a while, we even get to sell a rock.

✨ New jewelry, new makers, and a little unfinished business! 💎

We’ve got another wonderful family-run silversmithing team joining The Crystal Guide family, and this one has a bit of a backstory!

We were actually getting ready to work with these talented folks before the explosion last year. We’d connected, had plans in the works, and then… well, life decided to rearrange the furniture. Rather dramatically. 💥😅

But we stayed in touch, and we’re so happy to say their beautiful sterling silver and gemstone jewelry has FINALLY made its way into our shop!

And ohhhh, there are some gorgeous pieces! 😍

One of the things we love most about what we do is getting to work with independent artists, makers, and family-run businesses. There are real people, real craftsmanship, and real stories behind the treasures we bring into our space.

So come on in, take a peek, and help us welcome another wonderful maker to The Crystal Guide family!

New treasures are continuing to make their way into the shop, and we’re loving what’s arriving😍

We’ve got in a new maker who makes beautiful ritual kits from Soul Sister Apothecary, beautiful new candles from Niyyah Handcrafted, and her holiday candles have officially arrived🙌

And here’s something extra special about Niyyah’s candles! She handcrafts the holders herself, including those adorable little cauldrons, and then pours the candles right into them. Once your candle is finished, you have a beautiful reusable cauldron or container to keep! Every bit of it is handmade right here in Portland, Oregon🫶

We’re also restocked on some favorites, with more of Niyyah’s wonderful soaps expected next week

So many lovely things to explore, whether you’re looking for a little something for yourself or getting a head start on holiday gifting or need a lil uplifting crystal treasure or conversation, we’re here for it🫶

What a wonderful evening! 🎨✨

A huge thank you to Janet of Woke Face and everyone who joined us for our crystal painting class last night!

Sometimes you don’t realize just how much you need a little creative outlet until you’re sitting around a table, laughing, painting, and enjoying the company of some really lovely people.

Janet gave us just the right amount of structure while leaving plenty of room for creativity, freedom, and personal expression. And what a delight she is! Such a sweet, kind, talented local artist who made the whole experience that much more special.

Please go check out her artwork, support her, and show her some love! We’re so lucky to have wonderful local artists like her in our community.

This Wednesday, come join us for something really fun at The Crystal Guide! 💎🎨

Janet from Wokeface is coming to The Crystal Guide for Paint Your Own Crystal Friend, and we still have some spots left!

You’ll get your own wooden Crystal Friend to paint and make completely your own, and Janet is bringing everything you need.

We’re adding a little Crystal Guide twist too. We’re grinding up actual crystals to add to the paint! We even have a couple of crystals that were damaged in the explosion that we’re going to use.

TBB’s Taphouse is right next door, so grab a refreshment from TBB’s and bring it over while we paint.

Come hang out with us for a couple of hours, paint one of these ridiculously cute little Crystal Friends, play with actual crystals in your paint, and have some fun on a Wednesday night in SE PDX at your favorite Crystal store!

✨ Welcome Lorelai’s Gems to The Crystal Guide family! ✨

From the first time we met the team behind Lorelai’s Gems, there was just something really lovely about their energy. They’re warm, creative, genuine people, and we loved what they were doing before we even knew they’d end up bringing pieces into the shop.

And LOOK AT THESE. 😍

These are just a few of the pieces they brought us, and they’re beautiful. Gorgeous stones, really nice wire work, thoughtfully made, and an awesome price point.👌

There’s something extra special about carrying work when you really like the humans behind it, too. We love knowing who made the pieces in our shop, how they approach their work, and the energy they bring to what they create.

Okay, these are SO AWESOME!🔥

We have a brand new artist in the shop, and we’re obsessed! 🤩

Please welcome Kerissa of Eternal Solitude’s End

Every one of these pieces is handmade and completely unique, but it’s the process behind the antler pendants that really got us

Kerissa hollows each antler out by hand, then fills the inside with herbs and specific stones chosen for the intention she’s creating. She then seals everything inside and builds the stonework and sculptural details around it.

So what you see on the outside is only part of the piece. There’s an entire little hidden world inside each one. 😍

Each pendant has its own intention and combination of materials. One might be created around grounding, another self-love, intuition or courage. She uses intuitive practice to help guide what she’ll create next.

And then there are the crystal bullet pendants, because apparently she wasn’t done being cool yet. 😎

This is the kind of work we love bringing into The Crystal Guide: unusual, intentional, handmade, and created by an actual human whose hands are all over the process from beginning to end.

They’re officially in the shop now.

We’re OPEN TODAY 12–7, and we’ve been putting out all kinds of new fun stuff, including a whole lot of cabs. 😍

Cabochons, if we’re being proper.

If you’ve heard us talk about “cabs” and had absolutely no idea what we meant, a cabochon is simply a stone that’s been shaped and polished rather than faceted like a traditional gemstone. They often have a smooth, rounded surface and a flatter back so they can be set into jewelry or wrapped with wire.

But as you can see from these trays, “cabochon” covers a LOT of territory.

They can be tiny or huge, perfectly oval or completely freeform. They can be hearts, teardrops, wings, mushrooms, lightning bolts, carvings and all kinds of other shapes. One of my favorite things about them is that the person cutting the stone gets to decide what part of it to feature, so a really great cab can show off banding, inclusions, flash, color or some bizarre little geological landscape that might have disappeared with a different cut.

That’s also why makers love them. A wire wrapper can look at one and see a pendant, a silversmith sees a ring or a cuff, somebody else sees the beginning of an art piece, and some of us see a really pretty rock that we’re absolutely not going to do anything with except keep looking at it. 😂

We have LOTS of cabochons in the shop right now, and these are just some of them.

And if you’re looking for something specific, please ask us! We can source particular stones, shapes, sizes and materials, and we can also special order cabs in bulk or wholesale quantities for makers.

So if you have cabochon needs, apparently we would like to hear about them. 😂

✨ LEPIDOLITE ✨
Premium Grade Towers

These are some seriously beautiful pieces of lepidolite. Highly compressed, richly colored, high-grade material with that unmistakable lilac-to-purple shimmer.

But lepidolite gets much more interesting when you look beyond the color.

Geologically, lepidolite is a lithium-rich mica that forms primarily in granitic pegmatites. These coarse-grained igneous rocks form during the final stages of crystallization, when elements that don’t easily fit into common minerals can become concentrated.

That includes lithium, cesium and tantalum.

And lithium is a BIG deal in the modern world.

Lithium is the lightest metal on Earth and is essential to rechargeable battery technology used in phones, laptops, power tools, electric vehicles and large-scale energy storage. It’s also used in specialty glass, ceramics, alloys and other technologies.

Lepidolite is one of several naturally occurring minerals that can contain significant lithium.

So that purple tower sitting on your shelf?

Its geological story connects ancient magma deep within the Earth to one of the most technologically important elements of our modern world.

Lithium-bearing pegmatites occur around the globe, and the LCT pegmatite family, lithium-cesium-tantalum, has been identified on every continent, including Antarctica.

Energetically, lepidolite is traditionally associated with:
• transition and change
• emotional balance
• calming overwhelmed energy
• rest and reflection
• releasing old patterns
• support during periods of change

Which makes its geology feel particularly fitting.

A mineral born during the final, highly concentrated stages of changing magma, carrying an element that now helps power a rapidly changing technological world.

Science and symbolism occasionally make very good neighbors. 💜
