Our first lavender harvest since the explosion. 💜

We picked it today and will bundle it, dry it and hang it around the shop.

Lavender is one of those beautiful places where science, nature and spirit overlap. Its aromatic compounds, including linalool, have been studied for their calming effects on the nervous system. In the garden, its flowers provide food for bees and other pollinators. And for centuries, lavender has been used spiritually for cleansing, protection, peace, healing and creating a sense of calm within a space.

Maybe that’s why this little basket feels like more than lavender today.🥹

Something grew here again. 💜🌿🙌

We were playing with some of our new pieces and this little gathering happened. 🖤🌿

A Green Aventurine Mother Goddess, surrounded by Obsidian Crows and a Quartz Geode Heart.

There’s actually a beautiful combination of symbolism here:

🌿 Green Aventurine is tradiionally associated with growth, abundance, optimism and new opportunities. Sometimes called a “stone of opportunity,” its green color also connects it with the heart and the energy of renewal.

🖤 Obsidian is volcanic glass, born when molten lava cools rapidly. It has a long history as both a practical and ceremonial stone and is commonly associated with protection, grounding, truth and clearing away what no longer serves us.

🐦‍⬛ Crows have carried powerful symbolism across cultures for centuries. Intelligent, adaptable and remarkably social, they’re often connected with transformation, mystery, intuition and moving between the known and unknown.

🤍 Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth, but geodes give us something special: an ordinary-looking exterior that opens to reveal crystals growing within. Quartz is traditionally associated with clarity and amplification.

And at the center, the Mother Goddess, an ancient symbol of creation, fertility, nature, abundance and the cycles of life.

Growth. Protection. Transformation. Clarity. Creation.

Apparently the crystals knew what they were doing when we put them together. ✨

A few new pretties are making their way onto the shelves! 👀✨

We’re still unpacking boxes, rearranging, resituating, and getting everything where we want it, but we had to give you a little peek at some of the new pieces coming out.

Crazy Lace Agate, Moss Agate, Aura Quartz, Green Strawberry Quartz… and this is only a tiny handful of what we’ve been unpacking. 💎

Some of these were ordered before the explosion, some after, and most of them have never made it onto our shelves before. There is SO much more coming out of those boxes.

So come in and see what’s new. And remember, if you’re looking for something more personal, we can help with that too. We create custom crystal grid kits, put together crystal sets for different needs and intentions, and make care packages for someone who could use a little extra love.

We absolutely adore these two. ❤️ They’re dear friends, their whole family has been incredibly supportive of us and our little shop, and seeing them walk through the door always makes us happy.

They came in today on a mission for something we absolutely cannot show you because 👀🎁🤫 … but then Jimothy happened. 😂🦝

If you haven’t been following the saga of Jimothy, he’s the now-famous Seattle raccoon with a spinal condition who has somehow managed to capture the hearts of an entire city and inspire a whole little world of Jimothy art.

And this teeny-tiny original painting by our local artist Fiddlefern Arts was actually one of the pieces featured in the original news coverage about the Jimothy craze.

He spotted it and that was pretty much it.

“I can’t leave without Jimothy.”

So he didn’t. 😂

And now this tiny little piece of Jimothy history has officially found its home.

This is one of our favorite things about having the work of so many local artists in the shop. Sometimes you find exactly what you came looking for.

And sometimes a tiny raccoon painting looks at you and says, Yeah, buddy. I’m coming home with you.

We love our people. We love our artists. And we love Jimothy too. ❤️🦝

✨ WE’RE OPEN TODAY 3–7ISH ✨

We’ve been thinking about something lately.

Years ago, we watched someone we knew build a business around helping a very specific kind of person, and something about the way she did it stuck with us. She really didn’t seem all that concerned with the people who weren’t for her. She focused on the people who were.

And maybe it took us a while to really understand how powerful that is.

There are plenty of crystal shops. Some have been here for decades. Some are brand new. Some are fancy. Some offer things we never will. And we know they’re also helping people and that’s what matters. There’s room for all of us to do good work. 🙌

We don’t need to be everyone’s crystal shop. We just want to be our people’s crystal shop.

We’re the strange little shop tucked off 82nd & Johnson Creek, right off 205, where you can dig through crystals, discover the work of local artists, ask questions, hang out, grab some food or boba, or wander next door for a drink.

We’re not backed by investors nor do we have family money, and there wasn’t another income supporting us while we built this. Quite the opposite. Our family went through cancer three times during these years, and this business helped support and uplift our household through it.

The Crystal Guide started with folding tables and tablecloths, and little by little, we built it into what it is today.

Then the place got blown up. 😳

To be rebuilt better, and again.🪷

So maybe “the little crystal shop that could” is actually pretty fitting. 😂

We’re full of beautiful crystals, yes, but we’re also full of local art, community, classes, conversations, weird little treasures and a whole lot of heart.

And there’s more coming. Crystal painting, crystal grids, wire wrapping for the holidays and more opportunities to gather, learn and make things together. We’ll tell you about those soon. 💚

We know we’re not for everybody. We’re much more interested in being here for the people we are for.

And today, we’re here 3–7ish.

🖤 BLACK TOURMALINE • HEMATITE • COPPER • ZEBRA JASPER 🖤

We’re unpacking new beauties at The Crystal Guide, and these are too interesting not to talk about.

We love learning and sharing about the stones we work with. Sometimes what science already knows lines up in fascinating ways with how they’ve traditionally been used energetically. We also believe there’s still a whole lot science hasn’t figured out yet.

🖤 Black Tourmaline: One of our go-tos for protection, energetic boundaries and helping other people’s 💩 stay their 💩 instead of becoming ours. 😂 Scientifically, it’s usually schorl, an iron-rich tourmaline. Tourmaline is pyroelectric and piezoelectric, meaning temperature and pressure can affect its electrical polarization. For a stone traditionally used for protection and boundaries, we find that fascinating.

🩶 Hematite: One of our favs for grounding and often called the Blood of the Earth. It’s iron oxide, Fe₂O₃, and almost 70% iron by weight. It can look metallic silver or nearly black, but powdered hematite leaves a RED to reddish-brown streak. Even its name comes from the Greek word for blood. There’s an actual geological reason that connection to blood and Earth has followed hematite for so long. 🌎

🧡 Copper: We LOVE combining copper with crystals. Energetically, it’s traditionally used as a conductor and amplifier. Scientifically, copper is an incredible conductor of electricity and heat. Our bodies even need it as an essential trace mineral. Nature and life are so cool.

🤍Zebra Jasper Spirit Cups: “Zebra Jasper” is a trade name used for different black-and-white materials, and it isn’t always true jasper. Some material sold under this name has been identified as dolomitic marble. Ours were sold to us as Zebra Jasper and haven’t been tested, so we’re sharing them as they were represented to us. Energetically, it’s traditionally associated with grounding and balance.

And yes, Spirit Cups, because what kind of “spirit” you put in them is entirely up to you. 😉

BIG NEWS… MONDAYS ARE COMING. 💚

Starting in September, we’re going to give adding back in Monday hours a try!

One of our amazing vendors and friends will be joining us to help keep The Crystal Guide open an extra day each week, and we’re really excited to see how it goes.

Now we’re figuring out the best Monday hours.

Would you be more likely to visit us earlier in the day, around 11-ish–6-ish, or would 12-ish–7-ish work better for you?

We’d love to hear when you actually shop. This isn’t a binding election. 😂 We’re just gathering a little community intel before we settle into our new Monday rhythm.

Sometimes the coolest things just walk through the door.

Yesterday we met a third-generation family of miners and lapidary artists from Mexico. Their grandfather started the business more than 60 years ago, and three generations of the family are still working together today.

They find and mine the material themselves, then carve, polish and create these beautiful finished pieces. We’re blown away ( but not tooo far💥😝) by the detail, especially the inlaid obsidian.

Whenever and wherever possible, we love knowing where our pieces come from and buying directly from the people who actually work with the stone. So finding and adding a family like this always feels pretty special to us.

We brought in a small collection of their obsidian carvings, pyramids, mirrors and inlay pieces, and honestly, we wanted to buy a LOT more, and will be! 😂

Today we’re excited to welcome Felicitas of Felicitas Metaphysical Boutique into her new residency as a regular reader at The Crystal Guide.

Many of you already know Felicitas as one of our 120+ local artists and vendors, and we’re thrilled to now offer her readings here on a regular basis.

One of the things I appreciate most about Felicitas is how grounded she is. Her readings are thoughtful and delivered with genuine kindness. She has a naturally calming presence that immediately puts people at ease, and she’s simply a lovely human to spend time with.

We’re so happy to have her as part of The Crystal Guide family, not only as one of our creators, but now as one of our resident readers.
