I paint the places I want to escape to.

The places where the sky feels bigger, the light finds its way through, and for just a moment everything feels a little quieter.

Painted entirely with palette knives and oils over a metallic underpainting, I chased the light from warm sunrise into cool coastal blues, letting it spill across the water and find its way toward you.

Maybe that’s why I keep painting skies. I’m always chasing that feeling of looking up and finding something beautiful enough to make the rest of the world go quiet for a minute.

⚙️Meet Stu Beavers on Saturday, July 18th from 12-3!⚙️

Stu is a metal artist from Durham, NC. Stu’s mother was a welder and though she tried to teach him, he always preferred painting and drawing. It wasn’t until he took a formal welding class at Durham Tech that those lessons with his mom clicked and he understood her love of metal– he’s been obsessed ever since! ⚙️🔥

He is heavily inspired by wildlife, recreating the flora and fauna of his favorite tropical landscapes. As a handyman and hobbyist auto mechanic, his materials are always close by and he sees the potential in the everyday objects around him. 🌞
