Hey hey, long lost friends! Hope you are all rockinā & rollinā right along these days! ā¤ļø Between some behind-the-scenes shop work yesterday, my mama talked me into tryinā out the acoustics in here with a song I wrote last week. (And then convinced me to do something REALLY scary in sharing this imperfect work in progress! š
) So hereās a little backstory:
Iāve been closet writing my whole life, sometimes hours a dayāsong lyrics mainly, which shouldnāt surprise anyone who knows me. š Last month I FINALLY gave up pro-level procrastination (& mostly intimidation), picked up this six string beast & started makinā my āsongsā into *songs*. ⨠What an overdue blessing lovinā on a guitar has been for me! Itās HARD and my fingers hate me and I canāt even IMAGINE how some of y'all rockers make the musical magic you do! But here I am, by God, stumblinā on a real song and feeling so proud! ā¤ļø
Short story long, Iām tired of losing important s**t to a digital black hole, and thatās pretty much the inspiration for this song. Authenticity, creativity, connection, individuality, REALITY, has been condensed into manufactured bits on constant stream, keeping us distracted, drained & terrified to be truly vulnerable. Weāre just losing too much humanity at too fast a pace. And at this rate of technology and AI, Iām afraid weāre losing one of the most precious human parts of usāART. We canāt lose art, yāall. I MEAN, WE CANNOT. š¤šš»
So pick up that guitar. Take that photography class. Watch an old Bob Ross video. Sing in the dashlight. Write a poem. Dance a jig. Do something creative just for the sheer hell of it! And donāt be afraid to share it in its perfectly imperfect nature! ā¤ļø True art isnāt always a finished product or a product at all; the meantime is the real magic. āØ
