I wasn’t going to share any of this on my business page because it feels really personal. Losing part of your home is a lot to process, especially when I’ve shared so many beautiful photos of this place here over the years. I’m sure you can imagine how much this home means to me.
On 2 October, our huge 100-year-old oak tree fell through our house. The tree that has been the backdrop to many a party, family Christmas gatherings, countless family picnics under its shady canopy, and even our wedding. We even had a parlour gig under it with Katy Steele performing! And now it’s gone with part of the house!
Devastation really doesn’t begin to describe it. It feels like another loss after losing my brother last year, and the last couple of weeks have been really hard over here, I’m not going to lie. My kids were at home and the tree missed my son by a metre - so frightening for him - but we are all safe and that’s what matters the most.
There’s been so much to deal with behind the scenes — insurance, finding somewhere to stay and trying to work out what happens next. We’re already finding there are things insurance won’t cover, and we’ve got a long road ahead of us.

As for Fleetwood, I’ll keep doing what I do and keep things moving as normally as I can. If you’ve been pondering over a Fleetwood piece, now might be the time to do it. Just a little update on where life is at for me right now. It’s been a really tough couple of weeks, but we’ll get through it, one step at a time. Im definitely feeling a bit better about what lays ahead, and I’m sure you’ll all be able to share in our journey forward on here. ❤️
