Exciting news!!

So many of you from Carrickfergus, Larne, Whitehead and beyond have told me the same thing: "I'd love to learn to sew, but your classes in Bangor are just too far away."

Well, as promised, yesterday I got on the train from Bangor to try and bring sewing to you!

I went round the lough to just outside Carrickfergus to view a venue and thankfully it is great. Bright, welcoming, full of good light, lots of plug sockets for sewing machines and even a kettle at the ready, all we need for fun filled sewing classes.

The Dressmaker's Apprentice is coming to Carrickfergus🥳

But here's where I need your help, now you get to help shape it.

When would suit you best for sewing classes?

1.Daytime - mornings and afternoons (weekdays)
2.Evenings (weekdays)
3.Saturdays (venue is not open on a Sunday)

Sewing machines - we have a couple of different makes in the Bangor studio, all set up, ready and waiting for you.

People often ask do they need to bring their own machine along for the lessons. You don't! We have everything you need here in the studio. However, if you are really keen to use your own machine, please come along 15 mins before your lesson so we can set your machine up and check it is sewing for you.

If you fancy learning to sew, there are a couple of spaces left in June for the beginner's sewing classes this Thursday and next Tuesday. More dates in July shared at The Dressmaker's Apprentice

Have you always wanted to learn to use a sewing machine? Maybe you already have one, still tucked away in the box it first came in!

Our Beginner's Sewing session is a perfect introduction to using a sewing machine. We have machines here in the Bangor studio all set up and ready for you to start sewing!

The June sessions are filling up quickly but there are still spaces available this Thursday and next Tuesday. DM to book your slot now. See you soon :)

Time to learn to sew?! Such a fabulous day yesterday with this lovely bunch.

All beginners who had either never used a sewing machine before or had not touched one for years. All turned out to be naturals! Love seeing everyone ‘birth’ their fabric bags and turn them the right way out, amazing sewing 😀💕

Almost time!!! The Great British Sewing Bee 2026 is to kick off on Tuesday 28th July. 🥳

Sophie Willan is the new host, following her hosting on the Xmas special.

I do love it but genuinely have no idea how they manage to finish anything within the time! Imagine if I had a timer on during my sewing lessons 🤪😳

Good luck to all the contestants. Let’s see how many try to gain Esme’s favour by sticking bows on everything 😆🎀🎀🎀
