I usually try to avoid saying the unutterable 'Ch' word until Hallowe'en has concluded. However, it has come to my attention that the last couple of months of the year will be flying by at a rapid pace (most inconvenient of them) and those who hand-make presents should arrive at their battle stations and commence immediately, if they haven't begun already.
I thought I would offer some of my previous handmade offerings for inspiration. I always like to hand-make a few items (don't listen to the voice in your head that tells you to make something for everyone in your life- that voice is the devil), and I also like to mix up the techniques and materials used for my own benefit as well as the recipients'.
1) Book sleeve, tapestry crochet.
2) Eye mask, sewing.
(I've always sewn these with a piece of blackout fabric between the two fashion fabrics for ultimate darkness.)
3) Pan protectors, crochet.
4) Mug rug, punch needle.
5) Kindle cover, tapestry crochet.
6) Hot water bottle cover, knitting.
And for the always impossible to buy for men in our lives...
7) Log caddy, sewing.
8) Keyboard rest tapestry crochet.
9) Flat cap, sewing.
All of these come together relatively quickly, so if you would like to make them up for a special person in your life you should have plenty of time before the big day. What are your go-to handmade gifts?
