I'm delivering this beautiful throw-blanket today to some very special friends that, up until my Studio Open Day last Sunday, I hadn't seen for over 25 years!

It was inspired by New Zealand's native red mistletoe, Pirirangi and is woven in hand-dyed NZ mohair and a blend of corriedale and perendale wool.

Made right here in the Manawatลซ ๐Ÿงก

I love it when I spot my work out in the wild!

I saw two of my handwoven bags out and about in the Manawatลซ recently and in both situations the lovely ladies wearing them were kind enough to let me take a photo ๐Ÿงก ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก

I feel so lucky to have a studio with such beautiful light ๐Ÿงก

Back in May I held my very first Beginners Weaving Workshop at The Herb Farm in Ashhurst.

It was a fabulous weekend with a wonderful bunch of students. I couldn't have asked for a more patient, supportive and fun crew to kick the workshops off. Deep connections were forged and beautiful weaving was created ๐Ÿงก

The team at The Herb Farm's River & Range, who hosted us, were also amazing. Lunch was delicious (my fave is the Buddha Bowl - I order it every time!) and we were spoilt to have our coffees delivered to the function room so we didn't even have to stop weaving to collect them. Thanks team ๐Ÿงก

The June workshop was held last weekend - I'll share the photos tomorrow, and I'm in the process of planning the next round of workshops which will be in August, September and October - bookings will open in early July.

If you are keen to learn to weave and would like to join me in one of the workshops please join my mailing list to be notified first, I open workshop bookings to my mailing list a week before I advertise them anywhere else.

You can join my mailing list at the bottom of any page on my website: www.slowwoven.co.nz

The clothesline of a weaver ๐Ÿงก

It might be a dreary old day but it feels great when you have one project completed and the wool for the next already dyed and drying on the line.

Thanks for the super cute review Mel (and Minnie!) ๐Ÿงก

A warp always looks beautiful sitting in chains ready to be wound onto the loom. This one is 12 meters, or five throw blankets worth.

It's been a minute since I've woven any blankets, I'm looking forward to being back at my big Nitschke loom ๐Ÿงก
